‘Young girls with #autism are more likely to experience a decrease in symptom severity over time compared to boys’? Uhhhh… nope, girls learn how to #mask and #camouflage #autistic mash’s #actuallyautistic #asd #autisticgirls #neurodivergent psypost.org/2021/07/young-…
This is why I’m training professionals what to look for, the questions to ask, social camouflaging, the different subtypes and how 2e gifted kids improve over time.
This is in direct opposition the recent study that #Autism comes out in #adolescence in teen #autisticgirls which is also untrue: spectrumnews.org/news/adolescen… it’s just glaringly obvious in many teens but there are always #redflags autisticwomen #autisticgirls #actuallyautistic #adhd

I am trained in #developmental #psychology and #neuroscince. I have been screaming the #teenagebrain is #underreconstruction from the rooftops! Am totally ashamed of my peers who wilfully ignore this. #neuroplasticity #frontallobes #psychologists #gender #rogd #trans #detrans
The teenage brain is under reconstruction. The prefrontal cortex is not fully developed until minimum aged 25. A bit longer for males. The prefrontal cortex is largely responsible for: decision making, planning, organisation, focusing, impulsivity, aka executive functions
Managing emotions, predicting consequences of one’s choices and moderating social behaviour. This is #science #facts Anyone who says otherwise is brainwashed by #ideology Shame on any professional who ignores this #gender #trans #detrans #shame

Excited to share this new preprint biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Is #caffeinated #soda bad for children's #brain development? If so, which specific intellectual capacity is affected? It is a question that many parents and caregivers are asking daily but there is no clear guideline 1/n
Using the #ABCDstudy data, we addressed the question in this work, “Daily caffeinated soda intake is associated with impaired working memory and higher impulsivity in children” 2/n
Some soda contains #caffeine (Coca Cola, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, etc). The physical side effects of caffeinated soda such as obesity have been well documented and the short-term effects of caffeine consumption (mostly in adults) are well known. 3/n

So @aaron_s_fox jumped the gate on me :) w/ a thread on the #ACL #injury & #AFLW #sport #womanprobs conversation & he did a great job but I'd like my perspective to come in that special 'tone' I may be known for in presentations... My first twitter thread! Expect sarcasm and gifs
1st, I posted my perspective on #injury #women #athlete #development #biomechanics in another tweet, if you missed it, short editorial: bit.ly/3a5Al1x & presentation bit.ly/32hbogF Read those after this thread of fun, I hope the GIFs help you "hear" my tone :)
I’ve seen a bit about #ACL #injury and #menstrualcycles including news stories about organisations ready to study the menstrual cycle and #training - Let me give you some basic information to help you #factcheck before you start #cheering or #praising

Here we go with:
"And the hits just keep on coming: Sex-specific effects of multiple stressor exposures on cognition"
Starting with @SEcksDifference setting us up well on the importance of early life stressor, working on limited bedding and nesting altering maternal care #Sfn2019
@SEcksDifference Limited bedding and nesting negly impacted maternal care, including affecting body weight throughout life, and gonadal hormones (elevating testosterone in males, estradiol in females. Interestingly an enriched environment there is also less time spent in nest building! #sfn2019
@SEcksDifference .@SEcksDifference showing the LBN model didn't affect vaginal opening or estrus cycle duration though, so unclear where effects on sex arise! Interestingly, prelim data shows that LBN enhanced male sex behavior, e.g., mounts less intromissions, and shorter latencies #sfn2019

#Hormone

I see many 13-14 year old boys and girls brought to clinic with a bunch of reports of hormonal levels.

In a free market like india it is possible to walk into a lab and have as many tests as you can pay for without any prescription from dr.
Parents (sometimes their family doctors) get these tests done in a quest to find explanation for these adolescents "changed" behavior.
These behaviours are -
1. Staying up late and struggle to get up in the morning.
2. Irritable mood
3. Desire to stay away from immediate and extended family
4. More connect with friends
5. Food dada
6. Laziness like their body is suddenly filled with lead.(they become Helium with phonecall from a friend)
7. General shabbiness of room and hygiene
