.@GovHolcomb's #coronavirus briefing is about to begin. Judging from some brief and uneventful hot mic moments, at least one topic will be the recognition that this would ordinarily be #indy500 weekend.
And sure enough, Holcomb begins by noting today would have been #CarbDay, before urging people to remember that more important, it's #MemorialDayWeekend, and to honor men and women in uniform.
Holcomb: "While we won't have a race this weekend, we hopefully will have one in August, and maybe in July as well." (July is the #Brickyard400, in theory.)

A more formal start to the briefing today, with Holcomb standing instead of sitting, and delivering an address straight to the camera before Q&A.
Holcomb: "Words cannot capture the pain and grief so many of us are feeling right now....Let us never, ever forget for one second that the more than 1,000 Hoosiers we have lost to this disease are not numbers. They are our grandparents, our parents, our children." #coronavirus
Holcomb thanks health care professionals, delivery drivers, others who have kept working to get IN through the #CoronavirusLockdown, as well as "all those who have taken this virus seriously and kept their distance... You have kept the terrible toll from being even worse."

Tonight I visited the final event at Rocky Mountain Raceways. My home track and a thriving facility with a top quality 3/8 mile oval and drag strip. This place is the type where @nascar stars are born. @KurtBusch, @KerryDEarnhardt, and more raced here over the years.
The facility entered into a 5 year lease on the land in 2013, and this year were told they had no option to renew the lease. The land will be used for yet another warehouse. This is a shame and a major loss for our community. So if you are enjoying the #Brickyard400 @IMS
tomorrow or your own local track tonight feel extra lucky. Because I spent 20+ years visiting RMR and had the dream of taking my young 4 year old son for 20 more. Tonight my heart hurts. We built something more than just a race track. I built a relationship with my dad there.
