I’m gonna go one step further here, if anyone was around this in 2016 & remember, I was warning literally everyone & anyone I could that weev was masterminding the Trump campaign strategy. His involvement doing this as revenge for his conviction preceded the Russian involvement.
Paraphrased, he told me he would do everything in his power to get Donald Trump installed as president as retribution for his CFAA conviction that the 3rd circuit vacated, that he would be the most destructive force to lay wake to this country more than anything else.

On Monday night, Rishi Sunak argued that his new barbaric immigration bill would “take back control of our borders, once & for all”.

This vague, flexible, yet highly effective slogan was formulated nearly a decade ago, by short-sighted Dominic Cummings.

theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/m…
In 2014, Cummings - who was to become Vote Leave’s campaign director - conducted some focus groups to assess attitudes to a possible IN/OUT Referendum from floating voters. The analysis he produced was never published, but Jason Farrell obtained a copy.

Quotes from the pre-#EUReferendum focus groups:

“If Cameron’s so weak that he can’t get control of immigration, then I’m OUT”

“If we leave the EU we'll save a fortune & we can spend that on the #NHS or TAX CUTS”

“We’ve lost control, because of Europe.”

→ Why BIG decisions need BIG support – share 2-minute video

𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬 𝗔 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗩𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗫𝗜𝗧

Big decisions need big support. That’s surely something we’ve learnt following the fiasco of #Brexit that most of the electorate never supported.
Let’s look at it this way.

Say you’re the boss of a company with 100 employees. You let the staff vote on whether the firm should move to a new location.

▪ 37 staff voted yes,
▪ 35 staff voted no,
▪ 28 didn’t vote (many staff weren’t sure)

𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗪𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗔 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗩𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗢𝗡 #𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗫𝗜𝗧

There was so much wrong with the #EUreferendum, that had it been a legally binding vote, instead of just ‘advisory’, the courts could and would have annulled the result as compromised and unsafe.
The problems with the #Brexit ‘win’ are so numerous, so serious, and so undemocratic, that the country should have a new democratic opportunity to reconsider our departure from the #EU.

In the following tweets are just SOME of the reasons why:
▪ 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗘𝗘 of the five territories required to vote in the #EUreferendum – Scotland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar – voted for Remain.

Yet, #Brexit still went ahead.

① The country was misinformed – retweet!

𝗡𝗢𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬 𝗚𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 #𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗫𝗜𝗧

That’s because, in the 2016 #EUreferendum, the electorate was not sufficiently informed. On the contrary, we were grossly misinformed.
② Legally, informed consent means that consent has been given with full knowledge of:

▪ the risks involved,
▪ the probable consequences,
▪ and the alternatives.
③ During the referendum, we were not fully aware of all the risks of #Brexit.

① The #EUreferendum was undemocratic. Many people directly affected were denied a vote.

Citizens living in the UK from over 70 nations could vote in the EU referendum, but most citizens living here from the rest of the #EU could not.
② Including Britain, 55 countries across the world are members of the #Commonwealth, and all citizens from those countries resident with ‘leave-to-remain’ in the UK were granted a vote the #EUreferendum.

They included citizens living here from Australia, Canada, Ghana, India..
③ Just two #EU countries are members of the #Commonwealth, #Malta and #Cyprus, and citizens from those countries resident in the UK were able to vote in the #EUreferendum.

Business Secretary @KwasiKwarteng admitted that the UK signed the #NorthernIrelandprotocol of the #Brexit deal without having any idea how it would work out. Watch and share this 1½-minute video. Discussion on Facebook: bit.ly/3BvNaR6 LinkedIn: bit.ly/2V8Krw0
On Sky News, Business Secretary @KwasiKwarteng said

“With the #NorthernIrelandprotocol, obviously nobody had any idea the actual effects of it until we left the #EU"

He added that the government now realises that the deal is not satisfactory “as it is” and wants to renegotiate
Even though the #Brexit deal has only been in operation since 1 January, Business Secretary @KwasiKwarteng said:

“The #NorthernIrelandprotocol isn’t written in stone. It’s not something that was going to last forever more. Everybody realised at the time.”

Lord @DavidGHFrost isn’t happy with the #NorthernIrelandProtocol that HE negotiated. He wants to “return to normal”. Isn’t #EU membership “normal”? That avoided ALL the problems Frosty is griping about and it's what he supported BEFORE the #EUReferendum. Watch ½-minute video.
Before the #EUreferendum, the then Mr @DavidGHFrost strongly supported the case for Britain to REMAIN in the #EU. He said then AGAINST #Brexit: “Even the best-case outcome can’t be as good as what we have now.”
As for the UK going it alone, @DavidGHFrost said BEFORE the #EUreferendum:

“The more independent your national trade policy is, the more difficult it is to negotiate completely barrier-free access to any other country.”

Yesterday, during a mammoth BBC TV interview, #DominicCummings said that anyone who was sure that #Brexit was a good idea had a screw loose. And then he went on to say that he thought Brexit was a good idea and was pleased that it had happened. Watch and share 1-minute video.
This time last year, #DominicCummings told an unbelieving nation that during the #Covid #lockdown he went for a drive just so he could test his #eyesight. Many of us then thought something was missing. Now we can be sure.
#DominicCummings had a lot to say for himself. But one question #LauraKuenssberg didn’t ask him is if he supports #democracy. Obviously, he doesn’t. He thinks it’s in his gift and power, not ours, not Parliament’s, to make or break, appoint or unappoint, a Prime Minister.

The #Nationalist and anti-immigration agenda that drove #LeaveEU will face many (at least to them) unpleasant surprises in decades to come. If we are to trade with nations from all over the globe we must expect to relax immigration controls. I have no problem with that.
It reveals the abject incoherence in the #LeaveEU cohorts. Free traders, who advocate rigid borders on immigration (some motivated by aversion to diversity or race) are living in a dream world.
Moreover, those who despised a supranational Europe, are now facing serious scrutiny: #NorthernIreland is de facto part of #Europe. Ditto #Gibraltar. Those who claim #Scotland’s quest for Independence is misconceived will be accused of rank hypocrisy.

Who dominates the debate about #Brexit 🇪🇺 in the #UK 🇬🇧? 📢 In this new article in #PRX (@ecpr's new #OpenAccess journal) @hoennige, @dominic_nyhuis, @PhiMeyer, @SusumuShikano & I analyse visibility bias and mentions of MPs in reporting on #Brexit | doi.org/10.1080/247473… 1/7
Using automated text analysis of 58,247 newspaper articles published July 2017-March 2019, we find
1) #ConservativeParty MPs were strongly overrepresented in ALL (!) newspapers - irrespective of left/right or pro/anti-#Brexit position (71% of all MP mentions vs 48% of seats) 2/7
2) #ConservativeParty backbenchers who were part of pro-#Brexit pressure groups #LeaveMeansLeave or #EuropeanResearchGroup were overrepresented among Con backbenchers, yet the same was not true for backbench members of the anti-Brexit #PeoplesVote campaign 3/7

1. A short story of #Brexit in four acts. Act 1) in 2010 Coalition comes to power and presses on with dramatic #austerity, wrecking the UK's social compact... causing massive economic harm...leading to 2015 General Election
2.... in which Cameron promised an #EUref, while secretly speculating on another hung parliament with #LibDems blocking such a referendum theguardian.com/world/2019/jan… Yet, Act 2) lots of #austerity disgruntled #LibDems & 2010 non-voters, along with some Cons voters switched to..
3. #UKIP in 2015 General Election. #LibDems got wiped out, #Cons gained 27 seats from LibDems (out 28 overall seat gain), while #Labour lost massively to #SNP -- allowing Cameron to go alone, being pushed by #Brexiteers in #Conservative party to go ahead with #EUref.
