7 Simple Life Hacks for You! A twitter thread...

Here are simple tips to improve your #life and feel the difference. Here’s how you can do it: Image
1) Prioritize Your Health

It doesn’t take time to stay #healthy, wealthy, and wise. Unfortunately, we don’t pay much attention to our personal well-being.

You should know that no work is more important than your #health. Whatever you do make sure it doesn’t affect your health.
Here’s what I do:

Every morning, I practice #yoga for my mental and physical well-being. In addition, I always make sure that my daily diet includes leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Because I believe health is wealth.

Americans are facing a mental health crisis. Nearly one in five people suffer from a diagnosis every year.

Researchers are turning to possible correlations between the mind and body—including #metabolichealth.
🧵
2/
Metabolic health has a significant effect on both #addiction and mental health.

Not only does being metabolically healthy reduce the risk of developing addictions, but evidence suggests it can improve mental health markers as well.
3/
Many mental health disorders are correlated to the altered metabolism of glucose. Switching to a #ketogenic diet may be helpful.

Improved metabolic health also has clinical evidence for prevention, as schizophrenia and bipolar disorders may increase metabolic health factors.

We are so PUMPED to be back at House Judiciary committee to hear HB23-1187 Alternative Sentencing for Pregnant People #copolitics

HB23-1187 will ensure that #pregnant people have the opportunity to #alternative sentencing 🔥

@S2SSisters @elephant_circle
We know that pregnancy is contraindicated towards a #healthy pregnancy & being incarcerated while pregnant is harmful to both the pregnant person and the child - #reproductivejustice is what we are fighting for today #copolitics @elephant_circle @S2SSisters
Correctional facilities are not mandated to track or report pregnancy-related data & most facilities do not have any routine process for collecting such information - another reason why we are saying YES on HB23-1187 #copolitics #leadership #reproductivehealth

FRONT AND BACK GARDENS
Lots of people who grow veggies probably use their back garden but what about all of that available space in the front?
A lawn can look lovely but wouldn’t lots of fruits and vegetables look even better? If you only have a small space in the front of your house you can utilize containers for growing veggies.
It can also be a lovely way to cultivate friendships with passers by….it could even be the start of a community growing group where you coordinate who grows what.

URBAN SPACES
If you have no outdoor space at all to grow veggies, that’s not the end of the matter. Image
It’s almost guaranteed that there is some unused space within your community that would make the ideal spot for a veggie patch and for bringing people together, it’s just a case of finding the area and talking to the right people.
⁃ @whitemoor_garden_project on Instagram are a great example of finding an urban space. Watch them transform it on their page.

1) The commonest factor that puts people off a healthier lifestyle is the 'all or none' principle.

This is what I have learnt after dealing with lifestyle diseases for over 5 years and having faced certain issues of my own.

I will explain this in my tweet.
2) What is the 'all or none' aka AON principle?

It is the presumption that you have to follow the diet/gym/morning walk schedule EXACTLY as it is.

If you don't complete it, there is no benefit.
3) This AON principle, in my humble opinion, pertains to medication only.

Why?

If you are taking meds for lifestyle diseases (LD) --> you are in the 2ndary prevention phase where you aim to prevent COMPLICATIONS! Image

@kprather88 I can share what I've been told so often over the years about why =>N95/FFP2 respirators/masks😷& filters may not "significantly" reduce⬇️ #AirPollution health risk. Some= valid points to consider:
1- health effects of varying concentrations of PM2.5 exposures aren't linear.
1/
@kprather88 cont...
2- they share poorly-designed studies in which too little filter surface area/efficiency/air flow rate is installed to provide enough cycles (i.e., air changes) per hour through filters for the space. When this is pointed out, they reply "solutions must be affordable" 2/
@kprather88 cont...
When one highlights that affordability, while very valid, answers & takes us toward a policy question rather than simply answering "do filters work" to reduce exposure of occupants to outdoor/indoor #AirPollution, they continue to conflate the #IndoorAirQuality science 3/

Tongue scraping, or jihwa prakshalana,
is a traditional Ayurvedic self-care practice.

Overnight, as the body processes everything that was ingested the previous day, toxins begin to form & are visible as a coating on the tongue.

#healthy #health #healthcare #ayurved #lifestyle
Each section on the tongue corresponds to an organ, making the tongue a roadmap to the body's health.

Scraping the tongue thereby gives our internal organs a gentle massage. When you scrape the back of the tongue, the colon is cleansed, stimulating better peristalsis.
Why scrape your tongue?

✅Reduces toxin load; preventing reabsorption of toxins that your body worked to expel
✅ Reduces obstruction to the respiratory system
✅Reduces bacteria and dead cells from the tongue
✅Enhances sense of taste
✅Promotes overall oral & digestive health

I would like to share with you my latest review article. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has long been known to be behind the development of autoimmune diseases, cancer and is even suspected to be behind the development of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/… (1)
…Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Long COVID. But it is still unclear what pathways it uses.

In this review I describe how the possession of certain ancestral HLA-II alleles (a system used by our immune system to recognize which proteins are foreign,… (2)
…such as pathogens, and which are not) makes the individual genetically weak to control EBV latent cells, thus developing different diseases. EBV infects B cells through a protein on its surface called gp42, which allows it to bind to HLA-II molecules on the B cell surface. (3)

Medicare – A National Health Insurance Fund
The history of Medicare goes back to President Teddy Roosevelt. In 1912, his presidential campaign included a national health insurance plan. The idea of a national health plan didn’t gain steam until 1945..

Pres. Harry S Truman championed the idea of a national health care fund in 1945. He wanted national health insurance for all Americans and fought to pass a bill but was unsuccessful. It took another 20 years before Medicare became a reality.
