My colleague @AjuriNgelale has produced a fantastic report on the #AKKGasPipeline project. It showed tonight on @channelstv, and you can find on YouTube here:
"When Pres. Buhari came to power in 2015, he made domestic gas infra devpt a cardinal project. This project has been on drawing board since 2008,2009. He made it happen. What this project shows clearly is the dedication of PMB to local content & capacity." vanguardngr.com/2020/07/how-aj…

I’m interested in how #Infrastructure transforms places. The village of Ore (“a collection of motley huts”) ’blew’ because someone decided, in the 1970s or so, that the new major Highway linking Lagos/Ibadan to Benin would pass through it. (The Old Road passed elsewhere)
The Old Road to Benin: Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha-Akure-Owo-Agbanikaka-Benin.

Then a new one was built: Sagamu-Ore-Ofosu-Benin Expressway.

That’s how Ore landed the chance to become a Transport and Commerce hub.

Time and Chance. But #Infrastructure made it possible.
In my traveling around Nigeria following ongoing Infrastructure projects - I can’t help imagining just how much things will change in the years ahead. Nigeria’s landscape will be redrawn in fascinating ways. New hubs will ‘blow’, new habits will follow new infrastructure.

I’m currently on one of the Standard Gauge Rail Lines that the @MBuhari Administration is completing (tracks finished, stations being built). We’re traveling at about 90km per hour, AC pumping, phones charging. It’s free cos it’s still test-run phase. I have about 3 hours to go :)
These photos (and above) taken in Agbor, Delta State, this morning. Agbor is home to the Railway Yard (Maintenance, Storage, Communications) of the 327km ITAKPE-AJAOKUTA-WARRI rail line. Also home to the biggest station on the line (under construction) #RailUPng #ItakpeWarriRail

Live from Itakpe in Kogi State. This is one of the construction workers on #ItakpeWarriRail Line. “I praise the [Buhari Administration]. Before now we didn’t know there was a rail line in Kogi State. It’s Buhari that’s made it possible for us to see this. Make God bless am.”
Usman is a mechanical technician. He used to be a driver, then switched to technical work (which he says he learned from childhood, tinkering with cars.) He worked on the Obajana cement plant in 2015/16, and has now worked on #ItakpeWarriRail for 8 months.
Paul is from Kogi State. He is a Payloader operator, has been on the #ItakpeWarriRail project for about nine months. He’s looking forward to completing this phase of the project and starting work on the #ItakpeAbujaRail phase. #TheYearofInfrastructure
