NEW from me @Newsweek:

Thanks to @RepJasonSmith, @drewbrees was a special guest speaker at last week's @HouseGOP retreat in Orlando.

I went through Brees's Hall of Fame career to show why he was a good choice.

Obviously, @drewbrees knows about adversity, and he brought a lifetime of lessons to the @HouseGOP retreat

The NFL superstar joined the House GOP in swapping suits for resortwear at the retreat, where Republicans gameplanned the next 2 years

Teamwork was stressed throughout the retreat, which concluded with Brees giving Republicans a pep talk about teamwork and overcoming adversity. #UT04's @RepBurgessOwens, himself a Super Bowl winner, introduced @drewbrees and told me Brees's remarks were newsweek.com/drew-brees-was…twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

NOW: Final press conference of @HouseGOP conference

#LA01 @SteveScalise, #SC03 @RepJeffDuncan, #LA06 @RepGarretGraves, #NDAL @RepArmstrongND, and #MN08 @RepPeteStauber talking about HR1
#LA01's @SteveScalise said to my question on HR1 that Biden “declared war on American energy” the day he took office by canceling Keystone Pipeline, he’s made it “harder to produce energy in America.”

“He’s not against fossil fuels,” he seems to be against American ones
In response to @TylerOlson1791's question on a TikTok ban, #NDAL's @RepArmstrongND sounds optimistic about a ban--I spoke with him about this a few weeks ago

NEW from me @TheSpectator:

It's clear that legislation from #SC03's @RepJeffDuncan, #KY02's @RepGuthrie, #AZ09's @RepGosar, and #KY01's @RepJamesComer just forced the Biden admin's hand in a VERY big way.

Let's see what went down this week...

thespectator.com/topic/inside-r…

(1/xx)
The @HouseGOP launched an all-out war on the remaining Covid vaccine mandates being enforced by the Biden administration. So far they have won some important concessions, but are pushing for more.

thespectator.com/topic/inside-r…

(2/xx)
I talked with several key players involved in the legislative battle, which they claim forced the Biden admin to finally declare an end to some of its coronavirus emergency powers later this year. @HouseGOP, however, wants them shut down now.

2022 #Midterms Simulation: #ArtoftheGerrymander

A Republican House win will be built on gerrymanders (TX/GA/FL/TN/LA, etc.)

To illustrate the need for fair maps, I'm calculating the results using the 2022 votes, but if every state had a Democratic gerrymander. #ElectionTwitter ImageImageImageImage
Methodology:

I’ll apply the difference in Presidential margin to the House result. Thanks @davesredist @mikemathieu @vest_team + @DKElections @PoliticsWolf

Keen to see how my maps perform over the decade; tried to comply with state law if partisan intent were allowed to stand.
#ArtoftheGerrymander: #Alabama
Trump 62.0% - Biden 36.6%
Real delegation: 6R-1D
Gerrymandered: 5R-2D
Δ Share of D seats: 14% => 28%
Easy Democratic pick-up of a safe new African American seat.

.@SteveScalise's Democratic opponent for #LA01 is @LeeDugas2001. Unfortunately, she doesn't appear to have an ActBlue account set up so I can't include her on my fundraising page, but if she sets one up I'll be sure to add it ASAP.
UPDATE: OK, she *does* have a bare-bones PayPal link but I'm not comfortable sharing it as it wouldn't include the necessary FEC info, which is a red flag for campaign finance headaches. If/when she sets up something more formal I'll be sure to post it.
Also, note that #LA01 is an R+24 district according to @CookPolitical; Trump won it 69-27 in 2016. Calling it a long shot is putting it mildly. That doesn't mean folks shouldn't support Dugas (I'm raising $ for Dems in even the deepest red districts), just be clear on that point.

I refuse to believe that all of those districts are hopeless.

There are two brave women (@GwenCombs and @HaydenShamel) running in the deepest red Arkansas districts.
AR has 4 house seats.
They are all red.
#SaturdayMorning
#AMJoy
These Dem candidates may be long shots to win those red seats.
So what?
It's not always about winning.
Sometimes, it's just about changing hearts and minds, even if it's just a few, so next election, they might vote blue.
