So when someone says #Luther isn't black enough it's tongue in cheek to say rice & peas etc. It's more nuanced. In what world does a black detective like Luther have no consult with anyone black? It's a lie! You don't have to change the whole script... it's about NUANCE!!!
He's from London and is a geezer. He's not portrayed as a man disconnected from his roots. He's not portrayed as a privileged black man who's only grown up around white people ... this is the problem. There's a chasm of disconnect...
Lesenswert: Die Namen von Straßen, Bahnhöfen und Plätzen sind in die Kritik geraten. Dabei wird mit zweierlei Maß gemessen. Bei #Wagner oder #Luther hingegen kann man den #Antisemitismus offenbar hinnehmen.

SEASONAL THREAD: in Isaiah 9:6 is the child to be born called ‘Wondeful’, ‘Counsellor’ (2 titles as in the KJV below) or ‘Wonderful Counsellor’ (1 title as in most modern translations)?
The 2 title version certainly sticks in the mind after hearing Handel’s beautiful ‘For unto us a child is born’, here with the @londonsymphony
The 2 title version seems general among Reformation translations (Here’s #Luther’s 1545 translation): ‘Wunderbar, Rath’, also separating out ‘mighty God’ as ‘Kraft’ & ‘Held’, taking ‘ēl ‘god’ in the sense of strong one.

The reviewer apparently seems to think that "two-dimensional" hagiography of Luther is best countered by two-dimensional character bashing.
