NEW from me @TheSpectator:

I’m at today’s long awaited @tiktok_us hearing, where the Communist spyware CEO is going to gaslight America

He’s now on on Cap Hill with a Socialist Congressman and a Biden-tied Mao lover's firm in his pockets

TikTok’s CEO is gearing up for a grilling in Congress, but he’s got some new, powerful allies in his corner: a political consulting firm whose founder lavished praise on Mao Zedong and is now one of Biden’s top aides — and a socialist congressman who thespectator.com/topic/tiktok-f…twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
Shou Zi Chew, the company’s CEO, is at @HouseCommerce, where Republicans are planning to press him on the national security concerns posed by the video app’s parent company ByteDance’s ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

2022 #Midterms Simulation: #ArtoftheGerrymander

A Republican House win will be built on gerrymanders (TX/GA/FL/TN/LA, etc.)

To illustrate the need for fair maps, I'm calculating the results using the 2022 votes, but if every state had a Democratic gerrymander. #ElectionTwitter ImageImageImageImage
Methodology:

I’ll apply the difference in Presidential margin to the House result. Thanks @davesredist @mikemathieu @vest_team + @DKElections @PoliticsWolf

Keen to see how my maps perform over the decade; tried to comply with state law if partisan intent were allowed to stand.
#ArtoftheGerrymander: #Alabama
Trump 62.0% - Biden 36.6%
Real delegation: 6R-1D
Gerrymandered: 5R-2D
Δ Share of D seats: 14% => 28%
Easy Democratic pick-up of a safe new African American seat.

#mn02 Legal Marijuana Now candidate Paula Overby's son, Tyler, says his mother passed away this morning at age 68. She had been having heart valve problems and was recently hospitalized.
Of Paula Overby, Tyler says she was "selfless, always trying to help others."

"Always had great advice, wonderful to talk to, always there for you."

She leaves behind her mother, a son, two daughters, a son-in-law, two grandchildren and two sisters.
Overby's death will have implications in the race. Her party can replace her. But there could be expect possible legal action around how ballots get updated, handled.

A third-party candidate also died in same district in 2020. Overby was nominated to fill his spot in that race.

I just got to looking at many of the photos my #SSMSpackers students took during @POTUS @JoeBiden's visit to Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota. I'll post a series of them from before and during the event.
One of the things we wanted to focus on as student-journalists was what was going on behind the scenes as well as the main event in Dakota County Community College. This Pro-Trump / Anti-Biden group was not the biggest fans of us asking questions or photographing.#SSPMSpackers

Of the nation's current 435 House districts, 226 voted for Trump in '16 and 209 voted for Clinton.

Based on my initial analysis, Biden carried 216, Trump carried 208 and 11 remain too close to call. But it's pretty clear to me Biden is on track for a narrow majority.
Here are the 12 Trump '16 districts I can say with confidence Biden has flipped blue so far:

#AZ01
#GA06
#GA07
#MN02
#NE02
#NH01
#NJ05
#NJ11
#PA17
#TX24

And the two Clinton '16 districts Trump has flipped red so far:

Here are the 11 districts that I'm still not 100% certain about ('16 winner):

#CA48 (Clinton)
#IL14 (Trump)
#IL17 (Trump)
#MI11 (Trump)
#NV03 (Trump)
#NJ03 (Trump)
#NY18 (Trump)

Here’s what I’ll be watching once results come in tonight: I’ve classified every Minnesota precinct into buckets based on its 2016 vote, and then will see what vote margins it puts up in 2020.

In 2018, as you can see, DFL strongholds held steady while GOP strongholds collapsed. Image
This can be helpful at the #mnleg level, too. Here’s an example from House District 44A, a DFL pickup in 2018. In 2016, most of the district’s precincts voted heavily for @Rep_SAnderson. Two years later, she lost support in all types of precincts, especially her '16 strongholds. Image
@Rep_SAnderson Or in #mn02, where @AngieCraigMN improved against @LewisForMN basically across the board from 2016 to 2018: Image

But the issue is bound for the courts.
