A RECAP of 2020 House races (now that #NY22 is finally resolved)

Dems have 222 House seats. Rs have 213 seats. They are 5 seats away from the majority

Rs flipped 14 Democratic seats & captured the Amash seat. Dems flipped 3 seats. The GOP net gain: 12 seats
The # of House GOP women grew 130%, from 13 to 30, in one cycle

13 Dem members lost in November. But House Rs didn't lose a single incumbent.

Dems flipped #GA07 (Biden+6) & #NC02 + #NC06, thanks to redistricting. The GOP flipped 11 Trump-won & 4 Biden-won districts
GOP flips by presidential margin:

#MN07 (Trump+30)
#NM02 (Trump+12)
#NY11 (Trump+11)
#UT04 (Trump+9)
#SC01 (Trump+6)
#OK05 (Trump+6)
#FL26 (Trump+5)
#IA01 (Trump+4)
#IA02 (Trump+4)
#MI03 (Trump+4)

hello! While we're waiting for more presidential results, I thought I'd give you an update on the House. @DecisionDeskHQ projects that Republicans have won back 5 seats on net so far. Rs flipped 7 seats and Dems won back 2 thanks to redistricting in NC businessinsider.com/2020-house-eleā€¦
Seats projected to flip D to R, per @DecisionDeskHQ

#IA01 ( Finkenauer)
#FL26 (Mucarsel-Powell)
#FL27 (Shalala)
#MN07 (Peterson)
#NM02 (Torres Small)
#OK05 ( Horn)
#SC01 (Cunningham)

Others to keep an eye on as more votes are counted: #CA21, #CA39, #NY11, #NY22, #UT04
Democrats have also fallen short on many of their offensive targets to flip R-held seats: their most promising pickup opportunity is #GA07, where @DecisionDesk HQ has not projected a winner and we should (hopefully!) get more clarity today as more votes are counted/reported

Wow. The death of the Legal Marijuana Now Party candidate in #MN02 is invalidating the Nov. 3 election in that district, & means there's going to be a special election in February.

This is a Dem-held seat (since 2018) that the GOP is targeting.
Um, indeed: If #MN02 has to be vacant thru January, it gives GOP a decent shot to actually take over MN's House delegation (if they flip #MN07) which would mean MN casts its vote for Trump in the event of an electoral college tie.
This means: Dem Rep. Collin Peterson's re-election bid in #MN07 (rated a toss-up by @CookPolitical) suddenly could be potentially decisive if this were to go to an EC tie.

(Dems would *also* need an idiosyncratic upset in either #MTAL or #AKAL, and more, for this to matter.)

House Rs are no longer w/in range of taking back the majority. But if there's a silver lining, it's that they're poised to elect far more women than they did in 2018, when their female ranks plummeted from 22 to 13 (!).
Four GOP women are basically guaranteed to come to Congress in 2021:

#GA14 Marjorie Taylor Greene
#IL15 Mary Miller
#MI10 Lisa McClain
#TN01 Diana Harshbarger

Four more w/ strong opportunities in open seats: #CO03 Boebert, #IN05 Spartz, #IA02 Miller-Meeks, #TX24 Van Duyne
Additionally, there are 7 more GOP women running against Dem incumbents in @CookPolitical's Toss Up column:

#IA01 Ashley Hinson
#MN07 Michelle Fischbach
#NM02 Yvette Herrell
#NY11 Nicole Malliotakis
#NY22 Claudia Tenney
#OK05 Terry Neese/Stephanie Bice (runoff)
#SC01 Nancy Mace

After pitching a small, packed Dartmouth hall of die-hards & Klobu-curious, Klobuchar stays to take selfies w/ everyone who wants them.

Hanover should be Warrenā€™s base; will be curious to see if Klobuchar can cut into it on Tuesday. Image
After the event, Klobuchar seemed to have a minute of down-time so I was surprised to be able to get in a quick chat w/ her about the electoral history of #MN07.

She clearly relishes the retail aspect of this as much as anyone Iā€™ve seen, which could serve her well in NH. Image
In particular, I asked how both she and Blue Dog Rep. Collin Peterson (D) have succeeded in NW MNā€™s small-town, pro-Trump sugar belt.

ā€œWe walk parades together. Heā€™s got his own plane.ā€ And, when Peterson gets grief from liberals, ā€œhe calls and says ā€˜Amy, I need your help!ā€™ā€

.@collinpeterson has more seniority than 95% of his colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives, yet he chose not to use it to take a stand against Nancy Pelosiā€™s partisan #ImpeachmentSham... #MN07
... Itā€™s painfully obvious that @collinpeterson has been in Washington for too long, become complacent in its dysfunction, and at times aides it, like when he enabled this political witch hunt to continue by giving Speaker Pelosi the gavel... #MN07
... Quietly voting ā€˜noā€™ from your seat is a lot easier than taking a stand against the Trump-hating radicals in one's party, who are obsessed with undoing the will of the American people, and removing a duly-elected @POTUS from office... #MN07

Time for super pacs to start running ads in these districts letting voters know if these people vote for impeachment, they get voted out. Period.
We're gonna make these people famous today

From now until Wednesday, it's time to put pressure on these Dems:

You vote with AOC and impeachment, and you're toast. She's in New York City and doesn't give a shit you're in a red district.

Voting for censure is your only way out
HERE THEY ARE

PRESSURE THEM TO VOTE AGAINST IMPEACHMENT. ONLY CENSURE CAN SAVE THEM.

THREAD: It's been less than a week since @michellefischb announced her run for Congress, yet it's already painfully obvious how out-of-touch she is with Minnesota farmers. #MN07
kfgo.com/podcasts/news-ā€¦
This interview makes it clear that Fischbach is not up to the job of representing western Minnesota.

In it, Fischbach "struggles answering Heitkamp's questions about the price of soybeans, MFP payments, as well as whether or not she explicitly supports Trump's tariffs."
It gets worse:

"Going further, Heitkamp asks Fischbach if she knows what the breakout was in terms of payments for what soybean and corn farmers receive. Fischbach answers, 'I don't know off the top of my head.'"

Fact: in 2018, no Republican won a House seat where Trump took less than 45% of the vote, and no Democrat flipped a House seat where Trump took more than 55% of the vote.

We live in an era of extremely high straight-ticket voting & polarization.
Sometimes people forget how narrow a "trading range" of competitive elections exists today. Only one Dem, Collin Peterson, represents a seat where Trump took more than 55% (Trump took 61% in #MN07), and he only held on w/ 52% against a nobody in a terrific Dem year.
So generally, it doesn't matter how great a challenger or how awful an incumbent is running in a place that's hugely lopsided (unless we're talking Roy Moore-level pedophile-type baggage).

Voters are going to vote against whichever party they view as their enemy.
