The @CityofWheeling held its third #CityCouncil meeting today, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 5:30 PM. This thread details what I witnessed. I reported on the meeting as a citizen journalist, and I am using @BlackByGodWV @FolkReporters thread guide to compose this!

1/
First, in my estimation there were roughly 30 people in attendance, including members of the public, city government officials, and media. Apart from myself there was no masking. There appeared to me no COVID-19 safety precautions in place, there was space for some distancing

2/
3rd Ward Rep. @RosemaryKetchum opened the meeting with a prayer, followed by a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. City Clerk Brenda Delbert called the roll. In attendance were @MayorWheeling, @ViceMayorWhg and 1st Ward Rep. Chad Thalman, 2nd Ward Rep. @benseidler,

@guy_law @kzshabazz @Respec_ADOS @DOmowale There's more. Let's explore the history of "The Establishment" relationship with PA movements & thus reveal the Pan-European nature of US/Western Imperialism.

1. The US Government collaborated with the Belgian, French & British Governments to Assassinate Patrice Lumumba in 1961.
@guy_law @kzshabazz @Respec_ADOS @DOmowale 2. The USA Governent were the principal backers of the brutal Mobutu regime In Congo. When PA forces (e.g. The Rebellion lead by Piere Mulule) rose up, the US sent troops to crush the Rebellion; as well suppress PA orgs in the USA who declared solidarity with the ppl of Congo.
@guy_law @kzshabazz @Respec_ADOS @DOmowale 3. The CIA expended considerable resources spying on & trying to undo the work of Omowale Malcolm X while he was travelling through Afrika. They even attempted to posion him in Egypt. Numerous articles by now known FBI journalists plastered the media opposing his actions.

As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “our most urgent request to the president of the United States and every member of Congress is to give us the right to vote.”
The march is part of a nationwide demonstration to demand that lawmakers take action to protect #VotingRights.

As a professor @LinfieldUniv and a white Oregonian carrying the knowledge of our state’s racist past, I take the NAACP seriously. But this “report” is bogus.
The report cites Davis’s accomplishments at @LinfieldUniv as though they prove him innocent of other problematic behavior. Pro-tip: people do both good things and bad things. #linfield #naacp
The report says that accusations by faculty that Davis has been “divisive,” “abusive,” and “combative” constitute coded racism, arising from our implicit bias against him as a Black man. But there is no evidence presented for this claim.

He was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives, where his white colleagues refused to seat him. He would win a case in the Supreme Court and would serve in the Georgia House and Georgia Senate for decades.
