BOT ALERT - I've been monitoring my feed & followers for bots for a long while. I'm pretty good at spotting them (some get through, but I catch many, eventually). There are MASSIVE numbers of them being created right now. I've never seen so many. It worries me, what's coming.
Massive numbers in June & July alone. I'm seeing bots posing as Resistors: bots posing as doctors, lawyers, soldiers, Christians, foreign accounts, models, fake celebrities. They're everywhere. I should say, it's bots as well as trolls - in unmistakably greater numbers than ever.
I fear they're gearing up for something huge. They're already at it. I'm seeing a lot of extremist Christian posts, trying to provoke & attack liberals, feminists, atheists, Dems in general. I'm seeing both anti-Pelosi & anti-AOC bots, trying to provoke division among DEMs.

Please don't take this the wrong way - I was at a Lights for Liberty event & very glad to see these events taking place nationwide. But I was disappointed - considering where we are - that most protests numbered in the 100s, not 1000s & not hundreds of 1000s.
This is a country of nearly 330 million people. We didn't even break 1%.

Things are DIRE - democracy is being dismantled right before our eyes. People, including children, are dying in cages. We are watching GOP rig the next election already.
We should be out in the streets every damn day by the hundreds of 1000s. Hong Kong can get 37.5% of its population out for multiple protests and we can't get even 1% of us out to save our democracy & the lives of children?

We took a look at #MAGA follower trains, which appear to be a significant means by which fans of 45 network/organize.

cc: @ZellaQuixote
The concept is simple: account that already has a lot of followers tweets a "train" tweet/thread consisting of a list of accounts to follow. These threads in turn receive replies from users wishing to be included in the next train.
To gather a set of #MAGA accounts that had grown their followings at least in part by participating in trains, we searched for replies containing both "MAGA" and "your train" and then harvested the accounts that posted or retweeted the train tweets being replied to.

1) My background is math, and I used to build predictive statistical models. I want to throw up a ⚠️red flag⚠️about what the administration just proposed for a work-around of the #citizenshipquestion for #Census2020

First, this is what D.trUMP said today at the White House...
2) In a nutshell, they want to gather vast amounts of federal data so that they can determine (or in some cases, guess) whether someone is a US citizen or not

This federal data, once merged w/ the census data, would be a very powerful tool that could be weaponized, like in 2016
3) They're asking for data from "every department and agency in the federal government"

This includes:
INS
SSA
IRS
HHS
VA
DOJ
HUD
Dept of Education

The big questions are;
What data is "legally accessible"?
Will the federal agencies cooperate?

THREAD:
Someone asked "Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?"

Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England, wrote this magnificent response:
(2)
"A few things spring to mind.

Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem.
For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility,
no honour and no grace - all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed.

So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.

Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable,

Earlier today I was arrested with 17 other Jews and allies in the Cannon congressional building in Washington, DC, as part of a #NeverAgainIsNow protest against the US government's detention and abuse of immigrants in American-run concentration camps around the country.
As an American Jew, I grew up hearing NEVER AGAIN. Never again can we allow the horrors of the Holocaust. Never again to death camps and forced labor. Never again to ripping children from their parents. Never again to weaponizing abuse, indignity, and dehumanization.
As an American Jew, I also grew up hearing where the world fell short; where humanity failed to live up to that rallying cry of NEVER AGAIN: Cambodia. Bosnia. Rwanda. Darfur. I learned that NEVER AGAIN is both a call to action and a reminder of the cost of inaction.

🚨!WARNING!🚨

#ANTIFA! I have seen videos of you attacking elderly people, a man in a wheelchair and mob people 10 on 1.

YOU ARE COWARDS! F**K YOUR BLACK BLOCK. Your masks protect you identity, not your face.

Leave peaceful people alone. Don't make us stop you. We can, easy..
Are you really to dumb to see that you're acting exactly like #fascists, while saying you are trying to stop them?

Are you also to dumb to see that Patriots are the real #Resistance?

You better pray to the puddle you think you came from, that Patriots don't decide to stop you.
#AntiFascist #Antifascista

This digital soldier can touch land. You have #Antifa in TX right? 🕵

Bet if I switched gears, I could put together an Army of Patriots 3x bigger then TX antifa.

Imagine if you were in as much danger at your protests as Patriots are at theirs. 🤔

If you're reading this, I have just been arrested with 17 other Jews and allies outside of the ICE Detention Facility in Boston, protesting the US government's detention and dehumanizing abuse of immigrants in concentration camps at the border and around the country.
Growing up Jewish, I heard the message over and over from my elders: NEVER AGAIN. Honestly, I heard it so often, I got a little impatient, as kids sometimes do. I thought: I get it, I get it, you don't have to keep saying it. Obviously the Holocaust should never happen again.
Surely everyone understands this now.

I am heartbroken to have grown to understand what they already knew. We are now a country locking children in cages, forcing grown women to drink from toilets, forcing men to live in cells so cramped they can't lie down to sleep.

The Left’s explosive, prolonged rage at the election of President Donald Trump on Nov. 8, 2016, gave new life to the ultra-violent leftist movement known as Antifa. 2)
#LeftistRage #AntifaTerrorists
#ultraviolentleftistmovement
As a result, Antifa, which has been described as a revolutionary communist-anarchist militia movement that aspires to forcibly overthrow the United States government, is responsible for “a level of sustained political street warfare not seen in the U.S. since the 1960s.” 3)

WHY JOE BIDEN IS THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE WE DESERVE
1/110 So this may be controversial to say on Twitter, but I fully support @JoeBiden for President. @BarackObama is the living embodiment of all that is good in us as Americans, and he trusted Joe to carry on his vision of a better world for all of us. But it's more than that.
2/ Joe Biden was not just another useless VP during a typical President’s term. He and Barack were best friends, and Barack frequently leaned on Joe’s expertise to make himself a better leader for us.

Meet @IanRoberts9 and @JoanneB37379026, two curiously similar Twitter accounts that are in all likelihood retweet bots implemented by automating the Twitter website. (Amusingly, @IanRoberts9 was restricted by Twitter while we were looking at these accounts.)

cc: @ZellaQuixote
By examining other accounts that retweeted the same tweets as the two bots, we found 16 matching the pattern (web browser + 24/7 activity.) The newest batch (from 5/11) all have the same hashtags (#PresidentPelosi, #PelosiPower, #TeamPelosi, and #StillWithHer) on their profiles.
To the total surprise of probably no one anywhere, these accounts use stolen profile pictures easily found via reverse image search.

Quick Thread about China propaganda and soft power vs what America does. Usually when I'm asked, I don't respond, its their cynical "Always-On Anti U.S. Outrage"
But, I'll throw a few notes out there for someone who would like to better define our terms, lets begin...
Since the start of the CCP, and their eventual win of the Civil War vs Populist forces of Chiang Kai-Shek, there has been a coercive effort to shape international debate around China, and to neutralize the Chinese diaspora so as to stop diffusion of liberal ideas back into China
This extends well beyond sovereignty, The Chinese Communist Party sets up in U.S. university campuses, they preserve direct control by consulates/embassies of overseas Chinese students/scholars and business people as a surveillance network.

@bH2Omiamigo @TearsApache @icountryatheart @Hyem12 @WellHellsBells_ LOL i saw this earlier and thought it was DJT! HAHA

IMO This confirms [P] = Plantagenet family, at least in part
@bH2Omiamigo @TearsApache @icountryatheart @Hyem12 @WellHellsBells_ P=Plantagenet = Edward III = Order of Garter per slogan around P - Honi soit qui mal y pense (Shame on him who thinks ill of it) UK Monarchs called in the GARTER to bring Shame (and worse) on the Dragon Trump, but The Dragon defeated them this time
@bH2Omiamigo @TearsApache @icountryatheart @Hyem12 @WellHellsBells_ IMO @NSAGov trolls the Brits w/ Dragon humor of our own Spy defences PLUS the 8Chan dragon-like infinity logo of the Patriot Anon diggers. Is the USA Dragon now defeating English George?

Hey #Resistance!
Can we get @PhilArballo2020 more followers?
He’s taking on treason weasel Nunes in #Ca22.
Think we can get him to 45k followers this weekend?
I’m not above emotional manipulation.
I could do this all day.
But it's nice out.

I’ve thought about, fought against, and written a lot on radicalization, applying Eric Hoffer’s theory on mass movements to Radical Islam. My article “The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements” lays out some of this. usacac.army.mil/CAC2/MilitaryR…
Hoffer covers a lot of terrain in his analysis. Two parts apply most strongly to modern day radicalism: his discussion of why mass movements have appeal and his analysis of the traits most likely to produce converts to a mass movement.
Hoffer proposes it is neither the abject poor, nor the sated middle class, nor the wealthy who are most likely attracted to mass movements. Instead, it is the newly poor, or those who feel they have lost status, prestige, or were promised such things, who are most susceptible.

Stealing children from their parents isn’t a “deterrent.” It’s a War Crime.

The @UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 9 December 1948 as General Assembly Resolution 260.

LINK: heathersuccio.com/2019/05/16/ste…
The Convention entered into force on 12 January 1951. It defines genocide in legal terms, and is the culmination of years of campaigning by lawyer Raphael Lemkin. All participating countries are advised to prevent and punish actions of genocide in war and in peacetime.
The Contracting Parties, having considered the declaration made by the General Assembly of the UN in its resolution 96 dated 11 Dec 1946 that genocide is a crime under international law, contrary to the spirit and aims of the United Nations and condemned by the civilized world,

Sometimes one gets followed by accounts that aren't quite as they first seem. Take @Chanel_Co_, created in 2009 with 53.1K tweets and a two year gap in activity prior to May 25th, 2019. Should we follow back?

cc: @ZellaQuixote
Although @Chanel_Co_'s recent activity is pretty light, things were much different in 2016/2017. This account has several bursts of intense, very rigorously scheduled, and evenly paced activity, suggesting automation despite the use of the Twitter website to post the tweets.
Among @Chanel_Co_'s spammy old tweets, we found three distinct types of content:

- inspirational quotes
- links to clickbait news articles
- tweets consisting entirely of random punctuation marks and (dead) Google Plus links

Many or most of the Twitter #resistance is aware of the full horror of what is to come and what Trump and the GOP plans for America, and it's terrifying beyond our worst nightmares. It astounds and appalls me that most people are so oblivious.../1
...and walk around like everything's the same as always, totally unaware that everything they knew and loved is about to change, be taken away, or destroyed. They are unaware that people will die in horrific ways, people they know and love. /2
You try to warn them of the dangers, of the importance of voting, and they laugh and say you're paranoid or it's a conspiracy theory, or they just don't care because they believe in no one or nothing anymore. /3

1/ Thread on AG Barr's interview w/ @JanCBS cbsnews.com/news/william-b…
2/ The OLC opinion concerns indicting the *sitting* President. But, in theory at least, the President could be prosecuted after his term concludes. The special counsel could--and indeed was required--to make a prosecutorial decision. Barr still doesn't understand Mueller's choice
3/ Barr also reiterates a point he made during his first press conference: DOJ is not an "adjunct to Congress."
