The new Vice Principal looked up my son's record + reminded him of the long list of previous bad choices he has made since kindergarten + let him know that these mistakes would follow him through middle school, high school + impact his future. 2/17
My child has brain damage. He has Reactive Attachment Disorder. In the most formative years of my child’s life, his brain has been damaged by hunger, neglect + abuse. He never developed properly. Many of the choices he makes are out of his control. 3/17
1. Will #Egypt and #Ethiopia go to war over water? As the planet is stressed with more frequent and more serious droughts water is becoming a major issue threatening peace. Not only in regard to the Egyptian/Ethiopian dam dispute but #Turkey shut down water entering both #Syria
2. and #Iraqi #Kurdistan as part of Turkey's Kurdish ethnic cleansing. In Iran, demonstrations over water in an authoritarian dictatorship show the intensity of water as an issue and what people are willing to risk to prevent their water from being cut off. The US is not immune.
3. Las #Vegas faces water shortages as its water continues to supply #California. Lack of rational legal frameworks and shared responsibility for the resources will be points of tension here and may also lead to wars abroad. I took quick look at the Egyptian Ethiopian problem.

My wife befriended a fellow Chinese woman on WeChat. Think, Facebook but for cool people. The Mrs., being head lead generator of our new business, immediately paid attention when the woman from Rancho Cucamonga mentioned that her and her husband were soon moving to #Vegas.
After getting to know each other a bit, the woman, who I'll call Linda, informed us that they had recently sold their house and were moving to Vegas in a couple weeks. They wanted to find an apartment to rent only for as long as it took to buy a new house in Vegas.

Just booked flight & @Airbnb for #Vegas in Jan w/ my 3 best friends from college. They’re all MDs, married w/ 1-2 kids. I’m a university professor w/ a book & a cat. We met as young women of color on the same full tuition scholarship living in the Honors dorm at @miamiuniversity.
I’ve always been the odd man out in our group: only non-premed/med school/doctor, only queer one, only one not interested in kids or marriage. But somehow our friendship has lasted over a 15 years. This will be the first time we’ve all been together in the same space in 5 years.
I’ve seen them all individually (we live in four different time zones across the US), but it’s been impossible to plan a weekend away as we all finished school/residences, moved multiple times, had babies, got new jobs, etc. I’m excited & emotional about all being together.
