On this day exactly one year ago I fell seriously ill in the evening. I had a severe headache, nausea, vertigo, and most worryingly, I couldn’t stop vomiting. My wife called the Health Direct line, and in the end an ambulance was called for me. 🧵 (1/n)
Despite trying to not overburden the ambulance and health care system, the nurse of the Health Direct line called the ambulance because I was suffering from stroke-like symptoms. The ambulance arrived promptly; I guess I was lucky not be be sick last week… (2/n)
In hospital I was assessed to see if I had a stroke. I somehow passed the neurological assessment but I had the worst headache, nausea and vertigo I have ever experienced. Those anti-nausea wafers that stop you vomiting are worth their weight in gold! (3/n)

Good viewing if you think that your city is too spread out/ small/ suburbanised/ car-centric to ever have good transit. Bigger cities can learn too! Parts of the 'Perth model' of @Transperth PT planning are alluded to but need elaboration. Thread follows. #wapol #transperth
Before we talk about the goodies you need to know the things that made its achievements even more remarkable. Perth started its network rebuild from a very low base. Due to (i) its car-centric urban form and (ii) the existing very limited PT network.
Perth was tiny pre-1960s. The vast bulk of its suburbia was built post-car with sprawling suburbs & loopy streets. Walkable areas were knocked down for wider roads & parking. It's only a short distance from the CBD to autopia without many Syd/Melb/Adl style inner suburbs.

In post I mentioned #Aerosmith's "Pink". Said it symbolized drug prized by elites. Here band member hints that it refers to something "all rock and roll is about". Lady parts comes to mind. Given rock's Satanic vibe same could be said of the drug tho.
Watermelon Sugar High by Harry Styles is another example. On one level it's obviously all about the ecstasy of mad shagging. But for "those in the know" the allusion is to this pink drug, I reckon. Harry even sings that "he can't do without" it.

WA’s PPE guidelines are inadequate. Staff don’t have to wear masks if distance can be maintained, & bus drivers are only provided with surgical masks.

These are inadequate precautions for an airborne virus, and could lead to outbreaks.

There are now numerous examples of aerosol transmission of SARS-CoV-2 around the world, particularly in enclosed environments such as buses.
Here is an example of aerosol transmission of SARS-CoV-2 occurring in a building:

WA needs to open its borders

With COVID cases on the decline and Australia now in the worst recession since the Second World War, I have urgently called on WA Premier Mark McGowan to re-open the State border.
“As coronavirus cases continue to reduce and given the fact that we are now in the worst recession since World War II, it is essential the borders are open so we can get the economy moving again,’’
“We have to be concerned about our fellow citizens and what these closures are doing to them.

6 crew members of a live export ship which arrived from the Middle East last Friday have tested positive to COVID at Fremantle Port this morning.

It was granted permission to dock by the Federal Gov on May 20, even though crew members had high temps.
Port officials were only made aware of all these medical issues by "word of mouth" according to @MarkMcGowanMP.

The remain 42 crew members will stay on the ship and to be tested.
That's now 10 positive cases in 2 days in WA.

To clarify: Those crew who tested positive are now in quarantine.

It's a UAE registered vessel.

The 56,000 sheep are being held on a feed lot in Baldivis.

They cannot be taken to farms due to bio security issues.
