Recent polling has this race as a dead heat. @TheOtherMandela has a huge opportunity to defeat Republican Ron Johnson, which would flip this Senate seat and expand the Democratic majority.
Ron Johnson is complicit in the violence that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th. He contributed to the distrust, the conspiracy theories and the unrest that led to the attack. And then he defended and downplayed those who attacked us.

@SplitTicket_ The environment looks materially better for Republicans now than it did a month ago, especially on a statewide level. I don't think anyone can realistically argue otherwise. This update has two shifts to the Dems and one to the Republicans, but the overall picture gets more R.
@SplitTicket_ Why? Because the one tossup opportunity that is getting moved goes in the GOP direction. We don't expect Republicans to win NH or Democrats to win Ohio...but we never really expected that to begin with, so this shifts the median outcome to be more Republican.
As I've done this 18 months or so of book talks for Of Thee I Sing (many traced below, w/links to videos for a lot of them!), I've focused more & more on one of my book's four categories of contested American patriotisms: mythic patriotism. Quick thread:

So mythic patriotism is still a celebration of America (a la my 1st category, celebratory patriotism), but it's one that's exclusionary in two key & interconnected ways.
1) It celebrates a particular vision of US history, identity, etc., one I'd call overtly white-centered.

#WISEN: Barnes campaign goes on attack against Ron Johnson on abortion in new ad — the first time the campaign has aired abortion-themed ad in general election.
Was surprised that Barnes hadn’t used the abortion attack until this point against Johnson — per a campaign source, only one abortion ad overall has been aired against Johnson until now.
One possibility why: Wisconsin, despite its battleground status, is more rural and somewhat more culturally-conservative than many of the other big Senate battlegrounds.
Gun violence and crime are key issues for voters this cycle – and Democrats are effectively flipping the script by highlighting that it's the MAGA Republican agenda that puts profits for gun manufacturers ahead of public safety that’s responsible.
