Today is my daughter’s two year #covidversary. She was 16 when she infected, and I fought hard to get her tested. Everyone said kids don’t get #COVID. But I knew they were wrong. Because I was looking at a kid with COVID. 1/
I decided to make her story public, because I knew that if my child was sick & couldn’t get tested, then there were many other families in the same boat. huffpost.com/entry/coronavi… 2/
We finally were able to test on day 14 of her illness, and day 5 of mine because I was high risk due to having MS. My test was positive. But Molly tested negative, because we missed the testing window. I had wanted her case counted, but it never was. 3/

*An appeal to NON-autistic people: please take a few moments to read this thread*

We (#Neurodivergent people) were taught early in life that everything YOU (#Allistics) said and did was what WE (#Autistics etc) had to aspire to.

We weren’t even told an alternative existed. 1/9
Our #Autism was suppressed before we knew the word for it.

When we protested, we were met with punishment and ostracism.

When we suffered in silence, we were never rewarded for protecting YOU from our *legitimate* anger.

We were converted to #AutisticMasking to survive. 2
All children need mirroring for healthy development. We #Autistics received very little.

Our talents were often not recognized or acknowledged. If they were, it was not for our benefit, but for yours.

Our faults were all noted and attributed to us alone. 3

3/ personal; reputation had been damaged; physical health diminished; false portrayal of his actions; being blamed unfairly; allegations & process “unfair”; how can they ever undo what they did to me & #wronglyaccused. Similarly, how I had reported the #disability

@ShellELittle has taken the stage to deliver a keynote/featured address: "It Takes a Village." She plans to talk about accessible product creation: making something & distributing it. What's involved? #MSUa11y #ALC19 #FAFMSU
@ShellELittle Little frames the idea of product creation and #a11y by describing user groups as a consideration in design.

It's a cool way for me to think about how different rhetorical phraseologies evoke similar themes -- types of abilities represent different user groups, etc.
@ShellELittle Little is talking about neurodivergence and reminds us all: "'Normal' is just a setting on a dryer!'"

Truth! Being neurotypical doesn't make you "normal."
Normal doesn't mean a thing.
