#Debit cards were used the most, accounting for 28% of payments. #Credit cards accounted for 23% (up 2% from 2017).
Consumers used cash in 26% of transactions (down 4% from 2017). However, #cash was used heavily for small-value payments, representing close to half of payments under $10.

The 2001 Census showed that #literacy rates were low among Muslims, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The perception that religious conservatism among Muslims is a major factor for not accessing #education is incorrect. As with many Indians, the main reason for ‘educational backwardness’ of Muslims is abject poverty, which forces many children to drop out of school.
