Earlier today, @STS_News asked about researchers studying the history of #standardization.

That reminded me that I haven't had a chance to share some of the highlights from @LindaHall_org's latest exhibition: The #Standards That Built America!

Time for a 🧵! (1/8) #histSTM #STS
Curated by reference assistant David Crawford, this exhibition showcases a few of the 100,000+ industrial #standards in LHL's stacks.

Many of these standards were once part of the Engineering Societies Library & are hard to find anywhere else! (2/8)

LHL's #standards are often overlooked compared to our #RareBooks & #Journals, but they tell an important #engineering story. Groups like @ansidotorg, @IEEESA & @isostandards have helped promote interoperability, safety & accessibility in a variety of technological contexts. (3/8)

What a historic vote in the European Parliament! Polluters will pay and citizens are subsidised for climate change mitigation.

This week we’ve decided on the elements of the #climate package that will reduce the burden of the #green transition on the public. 1/7
#FitFor55
With the legislation adopted, we’ve finally managed to reconcile the two key climate policy principles: from now on, the polluter pays and the citizens will receive adequate support for the green transition. 2/7
Under the new system, the public will benefit from direct and indirect financial support from the fees paid by the big polluters.

The EU is supporting people to achieve a #climate-neutral lifestyle in a variety of ways: 3/7

@fordnation If you saw the condition of my father’s room and smelled the ammonia from the urine soaked carpet and walker he had and witnessed the toilet he had that couldn’t flush in his room, you would have been disgusted. Step down sir. You enable devils. Resign please.
This hole was open in my dad’s room with a water heater behind drywall. It had bugs, gravel & black mould. His walker was soaked with urine. There was blood stains on the couch. Urine on documents in drawers. The room not built to code it biohazard to workers, residents and I.
Covid restricted my personal access to this room. The only time I saw it was to get my dad’s clothing for the hospital after he was found on the floor with a broken hip. Why use carpet in rooms for people using walkers? It is a tripping hazard! It cannot be kept clean!

Haven't tweeted for a few days, a bit of a rollercoaster ride again with #longcovid and symptoms, up and down but hopeful that I'm heading in the right direction. Day 122 since onset of symptoms.

Here's a thread on what's been happening #covid19 1/n
On Day 119 (Wednesday), my GP called to check in on how I'm doing. Sad to report that compared to the brilliant interactions I've had with her so far during #longcovid, this was not a great interaction. Made me feel like I was being a nuisance with my questions 2/n
I will explain more in another thread, but this one brief interaction with my GP left me feeling like I don't want to speak to my GP again for some time. It's really interesting how just one negative interaction can change your perception of a service 3/n

Thanks to @turo I'm renting a #TeslaModel3 during my visit to Silicon Valley - certainly a different experience than traditional #carrental agencies #future #zeroemission #electriccars
Gone to Tesla's HQ in Fremont, California to try the supercharging there. It's supposed to be much faster than before.
I had hoped the Model 3 would charge at the new rate but it didn't happen
