Die Diskussion über die Gurtpflicht (Gurte ab 1974 in Neuwagen vorne, seit 1976 Anschnallpflicht vorne, Rückbank später) war von großen Widerständen geprägt. Wie später bei anderen Themen wie Rauchen oder Impfen wurde „Freiheit“ als wesentliches Argument angeführt. 2/x
Viele schnallten sich nicht an. Viele Tote, schwerste Verletzungen durch Rausschleudern, SHT, schwerste Gesichtstraumata. Dazu keine Ausbildung (ich hatte 60 h Sanitätsausbildung und Beifahrer, die Notärzt:innen glaube ich überhaupt keinen Kurs. ÄiW im 150 Betten-Krankenhaus. 3/x

10 years ago today, I experienced a bomb scene. I discovered every first aid & disaster course is incomplete. I am committed to amplifying the most-overlooked, most-important interval that could improve patient care. It is time to optimize improvised care in the #disastergap.
Also called #caregap, the care within is initiated by #spontaneousresponders. Whether trained or untrained, spontaneous responders step up from within a scene itself, doing the best they can, with whatever they have available, to care for others, while experiencing scene hazards.
#SpontaneousResponders are not #firstresponders. They will not be invited to a debriefing. They also are not bystanders and may go home with scene trauma or blood on their clothes. The most overlooked group of rescuers in the most overlooked disaster interval, the #caregap.

This is a crowded space with Indian and large MNC players. However, the industry as a whole is set to grow exponentially and established players who can achieve scale & offer wider capabilities stand to win bigger + mgt. are saying they are just scratching the surface ryt now.

1) Die Pandemie hat uns gelehrt, dass wir Infketionskrankheiten zu rasch abgetan haben. Herzpatienten saßen im Winter neben Influenzakranken im Wartezimmer. Es war normal, krank ins Büro zu gehen. Das alles kostet Lebensqualität und Geld.
2) Dasselbe gilt für Kinder. Sie sitzen in Schulen und KiGas vielfach in fürs Lernen kontraproduktiv schlechter Luft. Schlechte Lüftung sorgt auch für viele Infektionen, die nicht sein müssten und den Eintrag in Familen, was wieder auch der Wirtschaft schadet.

Why is there so much talk about ambulance offload delays? A look into the process, challenges, and solutions (a 🧵).
While not a new problem, there has been increased conversation on ambulance offload delays as we weather this latest COVID surge. Systems all over the world are struggling to get ambulances back in service in a timely manner after transporting pts to the hospital.
@NEMSISTAC nationwide data shows offload times (elapsed time from the arrival of an ambulance with a pt to the ED until the ambulance is back in service) have increased and spiked at various times in 2020 & 2021 (red + purple lines) compared to 2018 & 2019 (blue + green lines).
This is horrifying. I expected this to happen at some point in Jan or Feb with #Omicron. I didn't expect it happen on January 1. 💔
