JUST IN: Dep of Health says while children 12-17 years old are protected by the Child’s Act, it’s RECOMMEND that young adolescents are accompanied by a parent or other adult when they get the #COVID19 jab. Dep says vaccine sites must make provision for such. #eNCA
This however doesn’t mean that parents must be with for those 12-17 years old wanting the jab. It just means it’s recommended. The Child Act protects those who want to get the jab but might not be an agreement on it with parents/guardians. #eNCA
Dep of Health says whilst all children 12 years and older should be encouraged to vaccinate, attention should be paid to ensuring that children who have specific conditions that result in them being immunocompromised, and which place them at high risk of severe #COVID19, are 💉
I mentioned on #eNCA this morning that Discovery vaccination sites accept walk-ins. That’s an error. They do not accept walk-ins. It’s at the discretion of pvt sites to accept. Discovery does not as it wants to manage capacity & to adhere to strict #Covid19 protocols.
Discovery accepts eligible insured and uninsured individuals with an EVDS booking or a booking through the Discovery #Covid19 Navigator. So if EVDS books you at a Discovery site or on the Discovery booking site you will be 💉 there. But no walk-ins.
I must add that other private sites such as @dischem accepts walk-ins. Dep of Health says it’s at the discretion of the private site to accept walk-ins.
