@simonschuster @SimonBooks

Iā€™m reading Mark Pomerantzā€™ book, People vs. Donald Trump.

Suggested further review.

Page 76, line 11, ā€œassistant attorney generalsā€.

Isnā€™t the plural:

attorneys general

?
@FreeFairTweets

Mr. Pomerantz, a great book.

Hereā€™s my take on why @ManhattanDA @AlvinBraggNYC didnā€™t pick up the baton:

It was simply way, way too much, way too early, and would have completely overwhelmed his entire agenda for DANY.

All Trump, all the time.

1/
I think it was simply unrealistic to consider that new leadership would ever say yes, so early.

For Cyrus Vance, Jr. @bakermckenzie, whom I respect, his declining to seek re-election as the investigation went into high gear basically sealed its fate; thatā€™s on him.

Here's what I wrote in #ETTD about Trump and Reince:

"Not long after Trump entered the race, Priebus feared Trump would bolt the party, run as an independent, and wreck the GOPā€™s chances against Hillary Clinton. He absurdly believed that if he convinced Trump to sign a GOP...
2/...loyalty pledge, Trump would support the party after he lost the primary and that the oath would moderate some of Red Hat Donā€™s more grotesque excesses.
3/ So Priebus went to Trump Tower with a cheesy parchment that looked like it was extracted from a bin of discount award certificates at Office Depot and run through a knockoff-brand inkjet printer and had Trump sign it.

Even the companies with his name on them are felons. Convicted of tax fraud. In New York. But not the top guy. While he still remains under investigation by the Manhattan DA, Donald is a free man.
No matter how hard I try, itā€™s hard not to post about this bottomless pit of criminality, narcissism, destruction. #ETTD Check out this article from USA TODAY:

The companies face criminal penalties of up to $1.6 million. The trial judge,Ā Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, said after the verdict that the companies would be sentenced on January 13.

Fine. For the record, I believed that the conventional wisdom of a Republican sweep was more or less inevitable until the SCOTUS overplayed their hand & pissed off 80% of the women in America. At which point, Biden started getting shit done & the future became far more ambiguous.
I remain skeptical that Tuesdayā€™s results have changed much about the Trump-DeSantis contest, although there are pundits who appear to disagree. Iā€™ll believe it when elected Republicans go on record supporting DeSantis against Trump without insisting on remaning anonymous.
One could indeed build a case for #ETTD based on midterm results. But these are general-election races. Among the GOP base, youā€™re either pro-Trump or a RINO. And virtually all RDS supporters voted for Trump, twice. Heā€™ll get the Liz Cheney treatment if Trump brands him an enemy.

I didn't realize this. John Durham personally took over the Danchenko trial. What a personal and professional humiliation. #ETTD
I remember thinking the Danchenko indictment was a piece of crap from the start. It's pretty stunning that "top prosecutor" John Durham would think he could pull off a conviction on such thin and distorted facts.
Fox news and its propagandists also share in the humiliation, for their endless breathless hyping of the Durham probe, truly a witch hunt.

There's nothing like raising expectations and then disappointing bigly to make the pain greater.

Let's talk for a second about the difference between "Trump judges" and "Trumpist judges", and whether that distinction really matters.
"Trump judges" are judges appointed by Donald Trump. There are a lot of them, at every level of the Federal judiciary. The same way there are still "Obama judges" and "Bush judges" and "Clinton judges" - and that, as Roberts insisted, there are none of those things
Judges are appointed to the bench by particular presidents, and they have judicial philosophies, but by far most judges (especially short of the Supreme Court) recognize that they are constrained by and have a duty to adhere to the law.

Mark Meadowsā€™ life would be so much better today had Trump fired him for leaking to the press the details about how sick Trump was when he had COVID in October, 2020.

thesun.co.uk/news/12843307/ā€¦
My theory is that because he knew Trump was mad at him for letting the world know, clumsily and on background, how sick Trump was, Meadows tried to worm his way back into Trumpā€™s good graces by becoming a super-flunkie. Doing whatever Trump wanted in trying to undo the election.
If Trump had fired Meadows in 2020, he would have simply been the fourth WH Chief of Staff to leave the Trump Administration in less than four years. Life would have gone on. His predecessor, Mick Mulvaney, got a job.
