United States v. Donald Trump
By #BarbaraMcQuade

McQuade said that based on public reporting and Jan. 6 documents, "I think there's a strong case both as to what Trump did, and what his intent was."

Trump should be charged with two federal crimes

#MOG justsecurity.org/80308/united-s…
Prosecution memos are prepared by attorneys in criminal cases at the #DOJ to summarize the evidence and their legal theories for prosecution.
They enable supervisors in the chain of command to review the evidence, anticipate defenses, and assess the strengths and weaknesses...
Trump exerted pressure on VP Pence to reject the certificates of electors from certain states won by Biden and declare Trump the winner

Under the Twelfth Amendment to the Constitution[2] and the Electoral Count Act,[3] the VP, is responsible for opening the certificates

1. "I adamantly oppose the Black Lives Matter political movement, which has advocated for the defunding of police. They also advocate violence and destruction across the country.”--Kelly Loeffler
2. Let's have a closer look. First, neither Joe Biden or Kamala Harris has ever advocated to defund the police. That would be sheer idiocy. This trope was picked up as a calculated talking point in order for #Trunt to stir up his base into a frenzy, and to continue the hatred.
3. Her abject hatred for #BLM speaks volumes on its own. We need to look at her statements regarding #BLM caused violence and compare this statement against a sitting president openly calling for his pets, the ProudBoys to LIBERATE MICHIGAN and OHIO. And what happened.

#FBR lists are a perennially popular technique for gaining resistance followers, which also makes infiltrating them a perennially popular technique for folks who want to gain resistance followers under false pretenses. (The same is true of #MAGA trains, btw.)

We downloaded the most recent 200 tweets from each of 15402 accounts listed on #FBR/#FBRParty/#Resist followback lists since Aug 1st 2020, and looked for accounts that retweeted #MAGA accounts, foreign autocrats, or random spammers. Here are some of the more interesting ones. . . Image
First up: @ABirkshire, which transformed from #BlueWave2020 Democrat to enthusiastic Trump supporter in under two months, and is now being promoted on #MAGA trains. In that same time, it also went from knowing nothing about #QAnon to being a devotee/self-styled expert. ImageImageImageImage

We took a look at #MAGA follower trains, which appear to be a significant means by which fans of 45 network/organize.

cc: @ZellaQuixote
The concept is simple: account that already has a lot of followers tweets a "train" tweet/thread consisting of a list of accounts to follow. These threads in turn receive replies from users wishing to be included in the next train.
To gather a set of #MAGA accounts that had grown their followings at least in part by participating in trains, we searched for replies containing both "MAGA" and "your train" and then harvested the accounts that posted or retweeted the train tweets being replied to.

Meet @IanRoberts9 and @JoanneB37379026, two curiously similar Twitter accounts that are in all likelihood retweet bots implemented by automating the Twitter website. (Amusingly, @IanRoberts9 was restricted by Twitter while we were looking at these accounts.)

cc: @ZellaQuixote
By examining other accounts that retweeted the same tweets as the two bots, we found 16 matching the pattern (web browser + 24/7 activity.) The newest batch (from 5/11) all have the same hashtags (#PresidentPelosi, #PelosiPower, #TeamPelosi, and #StillWithHer) on their profiles.
To the total surprise of probably no one anywhere, these accounts use stolen profile pictures easily found via reverse image search.

1/ My Significant Other, who has 10X more followers than I do from participating in those #FBRParty things that I strongly oppose, is engaged in an experiment: instead of posting witty obviousness and outrage (and getting thousands of likes), he is posting content.
2/ The result is interesting: he barely gets any attention from his "huge crowd of resisters" who do such great lip service to the cause of democracy but don't seem that interested in making informed decisions.
3/ They still do engage (a lot) with accounts that repeat old news in fewer words and more emotion, they enjoy strongly emotional words and expressions (they love, hate, are sick, etc) and they happily engage in follow-backs.

Do you want to spread truth, facts, and some laughs? Rumor has it you should follow @akkitwts, a self-styled resistance accounts whose 265 tweets apparently contain these things in spades, as it's managed to attract 19.3K followers in under two months.

cc: @ZellaQuixote
Before we follow for the promised truth, facts, and laughs, let's take a look at @akkitwts. All tweets are sent via the Android app, and the tweet timings don't suggest automation. However. . .
As one might expect of a #resistance account, @akkitwts posts a variety of tweets opposing the Trump administration, many of which have been posted verbatim before. This dedication to plagiarism could indicate automation, but could also be copy/paste - hard to be certain.

1/ "Speak truth to stupid" (from the TV show Newsroom). There's science in that (a lot of it). Once you know the electorate demographics and break it down in categories, it's time to shape the *persuasive discourse*. (feel free to downlad)
dspace.lboro.ac.uk/dspace-jspui/b…
2/ The demographic composition of your electorate is usually available on public statistics data organizations or other research institutes. You certainly know @pewresearch and @FiveThirtyEight (private).
3 / Once you go through this first step, which many people skip, it's time to understand their "attitudes and behaviors". This is within the field of study of *public opinion*, a sub-area of political science.

1 / Digital political activism: I have been slowly populating this chart with relevant twitter accounts. The reason I have been putting work on this is because the effectiveness of political action depends on two things:
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
1 / First, the existence and following of authoritative sources (hierarchical structure). Second, fast viralization (anarchic or horizontal structure). At the viral level, the best number of cross-followings ranges from a few hundred to less than 2K.
2 / The immense majority of those creating viral action are NOT opinion-makers. They don't generate original content and they shouldn't: that is the prerogative of authoritative sources (qualified individuals, organizations, etc). Their role is to effectively spread content.

1 / I don't do #FBRParty and I have to mute several accounts that spend most of their time doing outrage posting, funny posting... zero content. Being "stronger together", mathematically, does NOT mean following each other but being connected through hub-accounts.
2 / Hub-accounts create and reproduce the most relevant content for *your* interests. Following political parties, important activist organizations, news outlets and serious writers is extremely relevant. Doing this means you have a chance of making a contribution.
3 / Increasing your individual number of followers if you are not a person who generates relevant content means very close to zero in political terms. I have no idea why anyone would want to have a lot of followers (unless it's business and if it is, we're talking serious numbers

1/ Day 30 of Trump's shutdown: Gov't workers are suffering. Trump's winning by blaming Dems for not negotiating. BuzzFeed nailed Trump for directing Cohen in illegal acts. Then Mueller made his first mistake & now both have egg on their faces. Trump wins. Enough! Resisters Unite!

1/ THREAD (Click on "Show this thread") Here is a revised Ultimate Presidential Candidates List for 10/6/18. Major changes at Tier One. Kamala Harris moves into first, followed by Cory Booker as a running mate. Joe Biden moves from first to third followed by Michael Avenatti.
2/ Bernie Sanders remains first on Tier Two, but is considered weak as a primary contender. Eric Swalwell stays at second while Deval Patrick and Adam Schiff switch places based on Schiff's high profile stance against Kavanaugh (i.e., Schiff moves up on spot).
