1/ 🚀 Yesterday, @Humane demoed their upcoming product touted to bring the power of #AI into the physical world.

I've been looking at their patents for a while now, and wanted to share some experimentation with this new form factor! #Humane
2/ I call this WristUI; it's meant to maximize the palm interface for maximum visibility while the wrist area is used for secondary data or alternative input. Think of it like the Digital Crown on the Apple Watch. Image
3/ ⏲️ Let's explore a Timer app concept. The countdown is displayed on the palm, and you set the timer by sliding through a projected dial around your wrist. It's an intuitive and easy-to-use design. #Timer #UI Image

One month ago, the Norwegian fishing ministry shot #FreyatheWalrus dead, leading to media coverage saying she was “euthanized.”

Today, we look at four euphemistic terms used by industries that profit from #animal death and at outlets repeating this lingo without scrutiny. 1/10
Outlets like @guardian, @euronews, @CNN and @NPR were among many that used the word “euthanized” to describe Freya’s death.

A rare exception, which did not repeat the language used by the #fishing ministry, was a piece by @jasondhorowitz at @nytimes. 2/10

Animal #euthanasia is supposed to be an act that reduces suffering, says veterinarian @iltaylorwriter.

Freya was neither ill nor suffering. She was shot because Norway’s #fishing ministry @fiskeridir declared relocation “not a viable option.” 3/10

Endless war thread! In #Humane's last chapter, my centerpiece is Barack Obama's extraordinary National Defense University speech on May 23, 2013. (Preorder "Humane," since now is when it counts-links at end!) us.macmillan.com/books/97803741…
What made Obama special was that he was the best critic of his own policies, though-in an absolutely immortal moment that I believe defined the presidency morally more than any other--"heckler" @medeabenjamin pushed him offscript that day. obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-offi…
More in the book on the moral stakes of the moment-its insights soon relinquished-but of special note was Obama's remark that "a perpetual war" including "through drones or Special Forces" alone "will prove self-defeating, and alter our country in troubling ways." He was right.

13 years ago today when we announced the iphone - i chose to walk through sf to the launch event at moscone center - wanting to observe and commit the world to memory, as i knew things would never be the same.
i knew touchscreen based devices would quickly become our constant companions - that the definition of a modern human would eventually be a network connected one.
but as we begin 2020 and a new decade - we enter the awkward teenage years of these devices and it's becoming increasingly obvious to most that it’s time for a shift.

For friends who've asked for a primer/how-to of what I call '#humane and #sustainable' meat, here's (finally) the first draft! bit.ly/367KIzM
Nicely formatted post/site + tweetstorm explanation to come (let me know if you want to help). Comments appreciated until then!
@sethbannon and @elamadej I know you're even more hardcore than this, but would love your corrections. I suppose I should make a section on #cleanmeat...

A fantastic thread on specific examples of breeding applicable interdisciplinarity.

In fact, I think we can go further, and designers can help.
There's a trend here.

In a lot of different environments, designers are realizing there's useful and powerful theories, insights, and communities from disciplines they never considered; and there happens to be a reactionary clash from the communities who live in that space.
We have an opportunity here.

Sometimes that clash is valuable, because it offers space for people to acknowledge, voice, and catalyze a community to make their knowledge known.

But sometimes, we can connect without friction, and towards a collective goal.

Just got to Davos. Ready to fill the leadership vacuum with big ideas. My focus will be on privilege and women. Only going to #womanels #methree. Also, my alligator-skin boots got snow on them, anyone have a blow drier or an FT I can use to dry them off?
Thread 1/n: Small ideas feel big when I'm in my Gulfstream, so here it goes: We have to innovate on innovation. The 7th industrial revolution disrupts AND displaces. Artificial intelligence and blockchain can only solve resurgent populism with #compassion.
2/n We elites are critical to making this debate glocalized. Thought leadership also involves thought stewardship. Communities form the core of our economies. Blue collar workers must be re-conceived as #newcollar workers. Code is key.
