BRF: “Reality before privatization is that Ministry of Power had over 50,000 staff, owned trucks, employed electricians who went out to repair faults, controlled power stations like Jebba,Kainji, Egbin & employed all who worked in Distribution. All that is gone, since Nov 2013.”
BRF: “From over 50,000 staff, the Ministry now has a staff strength of 729 people. There are no electricians, fitters, repair vehicles or distribution staff in our ministry anymore and we do not supply, repair or replace distribution transformers or meters.”
BRF: “All of these are now the work of the DisCos, under contract with BPE and under license by NERC as a matter of Law.”

VIDEO/ January 9, 2015, the then candidate of the APC, @MBuhari campaigned in Aba, Abia State. He promised a power intervention, to help unlock the entrepreneurial potential of Aba.

Today, President @MBuhari is commissioning the Ariaria Market Power Plant, an @AsoRock Initiative
Earlier this month I visited Ariaria Market and the new Power Plant. It was established on a site that used to be a garbage dump for the market. Out of that place has arisen this wonderful project. #IncrementalPower #EnergizingEconomies #PMBMeansBusiness @realREANigeria

We need a Fashola appreciation thread. He resumed in November 2015, let's assume Jan 2016. In 2 years, he has criss-crossed the entire country, carrying the weight of 3 ministries on his shoulders. Flagging of projects, Inspecting projects, meeting with contractors..
#Fashola
In 2 years, with 3 ministries, he has done much more than previous ministers that ran each ministry in 4 years. His zeal to work and deliver is a supernatural gift. How he was able to grasp the technicalities surrounding power, infrastructure and housing...
He speaks like a civil engineer when it comes to roads and breaks down power like a trained electrical engineer..

There’s a BRF Speech (on power sector progress) from an event last week that I’ll be sharing excerpts from in this thread:
BRF—“By the end of 2018 another 945 MW will be ready for supply:
(i) Azura 450MW (finished & producing)
(ii) AFAM IV 240MW (finished & awaiting commissioning)
(iii) Kaduna 215MW (undergoing pre-commissioning testing)
(iv) Kashimbilla 40MW (nearing completion)”
#IncrementalPower
“Between 2019 and 2020, Zungeru 700MW, Okpai II 450MW, totalling 1,150MW should come into operation. These do not include about 7,000MW of installed but inoperative power plants constrained either by Gas supply or transmission capacity or both, about which action is being taken.”
