In reality, neither pro-#Kremlin parties nor #politicians nor #media are #persecuted in #Ukraine as long as they obey the #law.

Fantastic presentation by Sophie Weeks of @polareducators at #ASSW2023 that made me think about how to communicate across knowledge systems🧵 #Arctic #Indigenous #IndigenousKnowledge #bridging #traslating #Westernscience #policymakers
with different epistemologies, ways of knowing, ontologies, understandings of nature and human existence, and axiologies, values, value judgements, and ethics.
Using #art to demonstrate that even working within one knowledge system has translation issues when shifting mediums from drawing to speaking or reading. The drawing demonstrated that objectivity is in fact a myth, having scientists all draw the same thing can demonstrate that.

#EthnicEuropean/White folk are facing an existential threat to our people & nations: #ANTIWHITEISM
We all recognize it when we see it yet lack a framework for enumerating it.

In collaboration with @wayotworld @Klaus_Arminius @solidarityeurop @patrickbasedmn we outline it here🧵 Image
#Antiwhiteism #Dispossession: From the political disenfranchisement of mass migration to forced 'diversity' programs that exclude #EthnicEuropeans from positions in politics & society we are losing agency as a people, made foreigners in our own lands.
@AshaLogos @Henrik_Palmgren Image
#Antiwhiteism #Defamation: #antiwhite tropes & conspiracy theories of power such as 'White privilege' are now mainstream.
#Antiwhite organizations such as the #ADL often employ libel against #EthnicEuropeans advocating for simple national rights & interests.

👀💭My video from the #archaeological discovery made on the #Miami River. The findings include 7,000-year-old spearheads, abundant evidence of indigenous settlements in the area dating back to the time of the emergence of the 1st cities in #Mesopotamia, & before the Roman Empire.

⚠️ The desperate health crisis unfolding in the Yanomami’s territory hasn’t happened overnight… we’ve been warning the Brazilian authorities about this for years.

1/
Alongside #Indigenous organizations, we’ve been pushing for the removal of more than 20,000 illegal gold miners from Yanomami lands - an invasion that’s increased dramatically since former President Bolsonaro took office in 2019.

2/
The gold miners are destroying the Yanomami and Ye’kwana's livelihoods, spreading disease, killing, raping and terrorizing communities - and they’re now just a few miles from ncontacted Yanomami.

Regularly receive questions on why I discuss Indigenous-specific issues when it comes to firearms so often when #BillC21 impacts most lawful firearm owners in Canada for no additional public safety benefit.

It's a good question. I'd like to go into some of the reasons:
First, the government has a specific duty to consult and accommodate Indigenous peoples in areas that adversely impact established Indigenous legal rights. Hunting is a well-established Indigenous right. #C21 adversely impacts it by prohibiting important tools.
The #Liberal government makes a grand theatre of respecting #Indigenous rights but regularly fails to follow through. This is one such instance. The government failed to hold a single meeting specific to the central issue of #C21 (the ban) with Indigenous groups.

Happy New Year! 2022 was an interesting year but I’m looking forward to what 2023 brings. I’m happy to announce that in Nov. I accepted a new position, as a Senior Policy Analyst with the @BCAFN with the lead on coordinating a response to Canada’s United Nations Declaration Act.
I remain committed to improving our cities, especially continued community organizing to ensure that our cities apply a social justice and equity lens to addressing ongoing crises, incl. the climate crisis, growing inequality, the housing crisis and the poisoned drug supply.
Ending the year, I was happy to join @NUICCIndigenous and @FirstVoiceNL on Dec 12 to discuss the enormous potential the #UNDRIP has for municipalities as well as the opportunities and pitfalls for local governments. Such a pleasure to join @KamJasTodd and Becky Sasakmoose-Kuffner

#Brazil’s Amazon Guardians have been busy protecting their land from illegal invaders – while the authorities encourage the land-grabbers.

It’s a dangerous job & many have been killed. Can you imagine putting your life on the line everyday to protect your home & family?

1/
Their most recent activities include:

👉 Land monitoring in the Arariboia #forest. The Guardians found a large logging camp, stopped the loggers and burned their equipment.

2/
👉 During an expedition they found evidence that a rancher had encroached further into their territory, crossing its border. The Guardians re-opened the trail that marks the border of the #Indigenous territory, as a clear sign to the ranchers to keep out.

Earlier today, Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Clark confirmed that the PC government didn't consult with #FirstNations before passing their controversial housing #Bill23 23. Said consultations will happen now, that it's already become law. #onpoli
Clark also said municipalities will also "deal with our #Indigenous partners" as well.

The @ChiefsofOntario are not amused, arguing that #Bill23 is a "blatant violation" of Indigenous rights, and that the PCs do not have jurisdiction to make "unilateral administrative changes"
"First Nations are in the best position to identify the necessary measures to mitigate or prevent adverse environmental impacts. We are concerned with Clark's comments to 'deal' with First Nations by way of requesting after-the-fact commentary regarding the passing of Bill 23."
