#PrimaryCareNetworks Taking care of the caregiver: "The primary care system works for me. It's taken a while for me to get there, but this is what I do with my brother. We go to the same general practitioner and he takes care of all the body mechanics." 1/4
"In the same clinic there are social workers and they take care of all the emotional issues. So the doctor won't ask me if I'm overwhelmed. But the social worker, that's their responsibility. They'll recognize that right away." 2/4
"And they'll talk to me about what I'm doing for myself, what I'm doing for the stress. And that's pretty much a conversation I'm assured of every time when I go to see them. But I don't expect that from the general practitioner." 3/4

THREAD: Last couple of days to comment on the #primarycarenetworks services specs. Lots of feedback to date that tells us we need to make changes. We are committed to doing just that @NikkiKF @NHSEngland. You can help us with feedback: engage.england.nhs.uk/survey/primary… 1/9
There are some really important points about this work:

These are draft and this is a proper, comprehensive and dynamic engagement exercise, being conducted "at scale". The feedback that we get will influence the final versions that we negotiate. 2/9
We cannot afford to make them over-ambitious: we would like PCNs to welcome the final versions as sensible expressions of ambition. CDs and #generalpractice teams should feel the final versions are deliverable and that they are aimed at the right areas 3/9

Not a massiver tweeter but plenty of stuff to share regarding the draft PCN specs having been a vanguard site with plenty of learning to share (have all the scars). #PrimaryCareNetworks @NHSEngland @NikkiKF So here goes 1/9
ambitions of the spec are commendable (the why),however the hows are not thought through properly.
Funding for care home mdts doesn't account for number of patients in care homes in each practice. Massive issue if you're a practice with 10 CH residents vs practice with a 100 2/
Aligning to care homes needs significant collaboration with care homes and leverage from the council. Extra support needed eg nursing input into care homes( eg older people , frailty practitioners),podiatry, salt, dieticians etc. GPs may lead the mdt but not the most impactful.3
