Leak Update #3 - After another horribly stressful day, R checked into @premierinn at 11:35pm last night & had her first decent night’s in ages.

Some temporary relief but it’s not yet over…

Millie & Catrina @johnhiltons have both been great & really helpful.

#JacksonProperties so far, have not! A contractor arrived this morning to assess the damage. He can’t do anything until Monday & with a load more rain forecast - tomorrow, Monday & Tuesday…

…there’s still no certainty as to when the necessary repair work will be carried out.

Reminder… this leak was first reported to #Jacksons #Properties 30 (!!!) days ago.

Working in @obsdmd has forced me to rethink of a PKM strategy that is also compatible with Roam, and here's what I've come up with so far: Input Notes, Summary Notes, Connector Notes, Category Notes, and #properties. Let me explain what these mean...
This strategy was built because I needed some structure while preserving the anti-hierarchy of zettelkasten - inspired by MOCs, Zettelkasten and how language works.
Input Notes: Any kind of input - they can be notes taken down from media (pdfs, books, videos, courses, interviews, classes), conversations, thinking, journalling. These contain metadata - authors, links, dates, etc.
~ aka "reference notes"/"fleeting notes".

So I talked about the how...but why did I choose to go into science in the first place? Relocating to a new country isn't a small decision and not an easy one.
Since I was a kid, I was always captivated by crystals. Their shape, the colour and multiple varieties. I had a small collection going at one period of time. But it was only a passing fancy, one that I didn't think about again until the final year of university.
As I mentioned, I took a solid state chemistry course which introduced me not just the beautiful macroscopic properties of crystals, but the hidden atomic patterns which lay within and how #structure determines materials #properties.

A Thread on #China. Some data and some thoughts. I hope you find it useful.

What's different about China's GDP number?
Is China growing at 6% as it lets everyone else believe?
Can China come out of this without devaluing its currency?
1/ #China’s GDP is an input number and not an output figure like in western economies. National accounts are based on data collected by local governments which are rewarded for meeting growth targets; hence, they have an incentive to skew the data they provide to the Central Gov.
2/ Looking at different data sets one will see that #China is merely growing. PMI sentiment is falling fast; a number below 50 denotes a contraction and not an expansion as the GDP growth rate suggests. Manufacturing (49.8) & New Export Orders (48.2) have already fallen below 50.
