JOŠ JEDAN NEPOBITAN DOKAZ I JEDAN MALI KORAK NAPRED 👇

The Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura (PKKP) people say they feel they've been robbed of a chance to express their views on Rio Tinto's destruction of ancient rock shelters at Juukan Gorge because of the delays to the federal inquiry's visit to the Pilbara. #RioTinto
The PKKP's chairman John Ashburton has released a statement overnight calling on the committee to reschedule the visit "as a matter of urgency" so it can see the full impact of the destruction before rehabilitation works start at the site.
"Prolonging this investigation only serves to further deepen our hurt and anguish about the irretrievable loss of connection to our ancestors and our country," Mr Ashburton said.

Back in 2018 #RioTinto made a big announcement about getting out of coal, with its chairman stating in relation to climate change that the company was “determined to be part of the solution, not part of the problem”?

But all is not what it seems.

Thread. 1/5
When it sold its coal assets, Rio Tinto imposed a royalty on them. Clever move. It means that it still earns money from them, doesn’t take any of the operational risk, and can tell all of those activist shareholders that they are out. 2/5
Annual Report 2019 p.203:

“We also have royalty receivables, with a carrying value of US$124 million (2018: US$158 million), arising from the sale of our coal assets in prior periods. These are classified as 'Other investments, including loans' within the balance sheet.” 3/5

Thread) Well there you go: the Minerals Council of Australia rep #BHP, #RioTinto & #Glencore couldn't resist responding to the Kerry Schott's comments that the push for new #coal plants in Australia doesn't stack up financially #lignite #auspol
2) On an earlier thread I thought the MCA would duck for now & respond in the future - but the #coal lobby in Australia are getting desperate & can see how fast the case for new coal globally is collapsing. Desperate times breed desperate PR #auspol
3) There’s a few things worth noting about their latest media release – the MCA have opted to focus their criticism on Kerry Schott
