Today we honor Jesse LeRoy Brown for Black History Month. He was the first African-American aviator to complete the basic training program for the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and was the first African-American naval officer killed in the Korean War.
We remember him for his bravery and ability to open up doors previously closed to African-Americans. Once I'm elected to Congress, I will fight for people like Jesse and our entire military, because they deserve to be honored.
