#muet #speaking #TaskB
Thread.

Now let's look at Task B.
From preparation till presentation ya.

👍
Actually for #TaskB's preparation, sebaiknya dibuat while #TaskA is going on. Waktu other candidates present, listen & understand & jot down notes. So that nak buat #TaskB jadi senang skt.

#TaskB needs you to discuss & argue of the 4 choices, ideas, ways, etc; which is the best?
Other words might be used like "most appropriate", "most effective", etc..semuanya sebenarnya membawa maksud "the best".

This means that all the 4 ideas, ways, etc that you talked abt in #TaskA are GOOD, ok.
And so, of all 4 good ideas, ways, etc; which is the BEST?

If, like me, you have the desire to help but are unsure of how, because things feel seismic and primal and massive, I propose one thing we can always do to avoid #paralysis is begin with personal practice. #BlackLivesMatter
(1/18)
We become what we practice.
#Practice a skill and you become better at it. Cease its practice and you become better at its opposite. There's no status quo. We are always practicing something. #BlackLivesMatter

If I cease practicing the acquisition, validation and refinement of knowledge, I don't just become worse at learning, I become better at misinformation and ignorance. #BlackLivesMatter

1. When giving a remote presentation do you feel like you're speaking into the void because there's no feedback? Some advice.

First. Any time you see a talking head on TV, this is what they are looking at (or #pandemic equivalent). Speaking to 10000s, but ZERO people there. Image
2. This means no one is going to be giving you energy - you have to bring your own. It's not that hard. Imagine a lovely audience - really, start by visualizing them. Friendly coworkers. Past audience you've loved. Put that in your head.

Then present to them.
3. This seems odd but it's in a way what good speaker coaching gives you: confidence in what you're saying. Not "fake it" confidence, but the real kind.

If you prepared right (1. know your audience 2. know the problems you're solving 3. practice) they WILL be a good audience.

Here's my promised #tweetorial for the month of October 2019. The theme is "How to Communicate your Ideas in Groups, without being Downed". Ready? How many times have you experienced the inability to put across your point of view to another, because the person whom 1/n
you are trying to speak to, is either rude, loud, unreasonable or just unwilling to listen to your perspective? If the answer is, “many times”, take heart! You're not alone! All of us have had to deal with people –within our families, among friends, during transactions in the 2/n
mall, or at work - who seem to dominate a conversation & make it difficult to have another perspective brought into the dialogue. Surely it feels bad to deal w/ such people; & we often experience hurt feelings, frustration, anger & a desire to get even with them ‘in future’. 3/n

A few considerations about getting paid to speak for #medtwitter, #womeninmedicine, and #SoMeDocs in response to recent thread from @arghavan_salles.

1/
Sometimes speaking and earning those lines on your CV are actually part of your job. In that case, you should have a clear understanding about protected time from your clinical/academic responsibilities.

2/
Also, depending on your institution and possibly your topic, you might be limited in your ability to accept external payment for speaking, or it might be owed to your department. Do your homework!

PSA: If you’re applying to speak at an event, often the only thing those selecting a #speaker use to make selections is the talk title and description. So I have some #speaking tips to share when replying to a #CallforPapers or #CallForSpeakers...
1. If your title is confusing, weird, unclear, too cutesy, or it feels like you put no effort into it, that may work against you. Organizers want talks attendees will be interested in and it must be easy to understand what the talk is about based on the title alone
2. If your talk description is all about you, it’s only 1 sentence, it’s sarcastic/unprofessional, it isn’t aligned with the event focus/theme, or it’s totally self-serving, you might need to rethink things
