9 samurai tips to feel happy from now and for the rest of your life:
🧵💯
1) be yourself,
the cost of trying to be someone else is very much,
discover your #strong_points and work on them, they are your military equipment, take care of them.
2) keep #learning and #unlearning!
Always try to catch new experiences and ideas. Sometimes to learn new things you should unlearn the old things, don't be biased, keep yourself curious and excited about life.

Our learning process begins the day we are born & continues till the day we decay and die.

However consciously our learning is restricted to just a few quality years.
The rest is mostly sub(un)conscious.

Now therein lies the problem & the solution !

Interesting #Trivia

The subconscious mind goes beyond learning new skills. It basically stores our beliefs & determines and monitors when & what information must be sent to the conscious mind.

Reducing the need for accommodations should always be a goal of educators. It might prove impossible to completely remove the need for all accommodations, but there is A LOT more most of us can do, and Twitter is an easy place to start. (1/4)

In our learning, re-learning and un-learning series, on Saturday the 23rd we posted a thread about a practice among the Agìkūyū called Nguìko-Sexless Romance. It one of the issues that, out of being misunderstood by the missionaries, was labeled immoral and pagan. A thread.
Nguìko - Sexless romance/Non penetrative sex/Fondling.

Ūtekwiyananga handū hoothe, hìndì ciothe na mahinda moothe."
There is no single English word that fully captures Ūthingu in the manner the Agìkūyū perceived and practiced it. Therefore, for purposes of this thread we will use the word Holiness to mean Ūthingu

Today, our family followed through on the decision to move dad to a long-term facility in Mississauga. He's been on a dementia journey for about 8 years alongside a cancer one that has him also receiving palliative care. /2
The script flipped for me was a few years back when his conscientious nature had him scaling an aluminum ladder in a rainstorm to check that the eaves were clear ensuring we wouldn't have any flooding. Both his physical and mental capacity at the time put him at risk. /3

#Decolonising #Development must be approached against a dual background of (a) optimistic anticolonial pushbacks like #RhodesMustFall & (b) renewed, frantic & violent attempts to hold on to the 'white man's world' - @o_rutazibwa opens the last #SussexDev lecture of 2017 @IDS_UK
@o_rutazibwa @IDS_UK The 'bathwater' here is #development as a system (ideologies, institutions, practices) which we may need to get rid of; we need to fight the desire to hold on to 'development studies' even if it has given us our professional identities (and paychecks) @o_rutazibwa #SussexDev
@o_rutazibwa @IDS_UK The 'baby' in this story is the ideas, desires and energy - global #justice, #solidarity, #reparations - righting the past and present wrongs that persist 'after' colonialism (the end of which was never quite the rupture we sometimes imagine) - @o_rutazibwa #SussexDev
