One thing I have seen weaponized against those who are marginalized and have experienced harm at those in positions of ‘leadership’ is the anger expressed. So very easy for #physicians, #researchers, #therapists, #counselors to point to the anger & exclaim ‘see how unbalanced 1/

this person is?’, ‘see how ill they are?’. When people are in positions where they have been harmed, where they have watched loved ones be harmed & it continues re of their voices, of their pleas for help, when those that are ‘suppose’ to help ignore the harms & gaslight 2/

#anger, to me, is a normal response. Yet many professionals use this instead to illustrate how ‘unstable’ a person or community is. NEVER do I condone threats or physical harm to anyone yet I have seen the #gaslighting of a group of or individual that has been viscerally 3

Let's remind ourselves of a few things science believed + #imagine where we would be if left unchallenged.

1. Samuel Cartwright
The "slavery scientist" as they called him insisted on MANY false beliefs to further the "status quo" narrative of slavery, including slaves were #animals and to stop them from running away one should torture them and confuse them constantly.

2. Ice Pick Lobotomies
Dr. Freeman committed 3500+ Lobotomies w/ a 14% fatality rate. Many left crippled or in a vegetative state forever. This was even done to children for hyperactive behavior or low IQ.

Including JFKs little sister Rosemary.

Listening to the #CDCOWG from perspective of #caregiver & advocate was disheartening. For me @CDCDirector assurances that #patients voices were heard was meaningless. She may say that we’ve been heard but then how are so many feeling as we haven’t been? Why are the #legislation 2

of these guidelines continuing? Why are those who have benefitted from #opioid #pain medications being removed, shamed & stigmatized? Why is care not individualized? It’s very clear our #voices have not been heard. There is nothing that was said that eased my concern for 3/

to me. The caliber of individuals involved was spectacular; academics, researchers, consultants. As I scrolled through participants as well as listened to the conversation and watched the comments come across the screen I was enthralled with the dialogue however 3/

We all have voices that speak to us. Some might say "Buy that expensive car" other might say "Why not invest that money for retirement?"

#2 We need to decide which voices we listen to: will we listen to the instant gratification voices that will fill our tummies and satisfy our lusts for physical goods, or will we delay our gratification for a while?

#3 If we delay our gratification and listen to the voice of reason, we will reap the rewards in future. As we listen to the loudest voice, we need to find ways to make the most important voices loudest.

1/ Not responded to the #CofE's latest #statement before now because I felt it as a body blow - a blow to those members of the #body of #Christ who God gave me as siblings & with whom I am united, whose pain echoes in me though it is not directly my own - & I needed to breathe...

2/ The #statement is thin paper stretched over a seething mass of different, deeply held #identities, opinions, lives & #loves that stand in #opposition to one another, yet somehow mysteriously #united in #Christ. There are #cracks we cannot paper over, divides staggeringly deep.

3/ I am really hoping this #lawyerly #statement from the church was just a 'holding statement' till the proper review that is coming, made because the law on civil #marriage changing pushed them into saying something because clergy would need guidance straight away..I am hoping..
