For the past few weeks, as the Chair of the Committee on Healthy Women, Families, and Communities, I have played the role of mediator and facilitator between #WhittierStreetHealthCenter management and the workers.
I am encouraged by the progress we made leading up today’s vote, previously terminated employees were reinstated and elections made accessible, the outcome of which we will know soon.
The fact that we have arrived at this moment, is evidence of the commitment of Frederica Williams, the workers, and @1199SEIU to chart a new path and to be an example of what is possible and necessary in this new challenging fiscal climate especially for our health care centers
@1199SEIU And what we gain is: patient access and care, worker dignity and above all else, partnership and the co-visioning of healthcare
