I haven't written about #MikeBrown today because i don't know what to say. I wish I were home in StL so I could go to the vigil. I wish his murderer was charged & convicted. I wish Mike was alive. I wish that in his death, the whole country would unite around #BlackLivesMatter.

I'm getting gas in a little town called Washington in western Pennsylvania, on my way from DC back home. 35% voted blue in 2016 here, I just checked.

I'm so angry yet I feel so helpless. Racism has gotten WORSE in so many places since BLM took off. It's disheartening.

But that's all the more reason we have to keep fighting it and exposing it and calling it out and standing up to it. It's not going to magically get better on its own.

I am so tired of the people I care about being in mortal danger just for fucking existing. I'm tired of white

people thinking that racism is a harsh word, or that racism ended in 1964, or 2008. Or fuck, 1865. It's so, so far from reality.

So we keep fighting. And in the meantime, Black people keep getting imprisoned, beaten, killed.

It's gotta stop. We gotta stop it. Now. Yesterday.

Mike, I'm so sorry you're not graduating from college this year. I'm so sorry we failed you so badly. I'm sorry. And if it takes the rest of my life, I'll fight for you.
