Celebrating 49 years of @isro, in this special take on #SpaceInAMinute, we take a look at what the future holds for our nation's space program.
Riding on the success of major past orbiter missions like #Chandrayaan, @MarsOrbiter and #AstroSat, @isro is gearing towards new technologies and exciting future missions. Let's take a look!
First up is Chandrayaan-2. Launching early next year, the mission consists of a lunar orbiter, a soft-landing close to the south pole, and a six-wheeled rover. If successful, India will establish itself as Earth's 4th nation to achieve a soft-landing on the #Moon.
Next up is the Sun orbiting observatory called Aditya-L1. Scheduled to be launched by 2021, this spacecraft will study the Sun using a wide range of scientific instruments; from optical/UV imaging and particle detectors to magnetometers and plasma analysers. #Science! 🤓
India's space agency is also planning a major upgrade to both the #PSLV and #GSLV with the in-development program called ULV (United Launch Vehicle).
Built to be modular and thus flexible, the heaviest variant can deliver up to 40,000 kg to Low-Earth orbit!
On today's occasion of #IndependenceDayIndia, the @PMOIndia @narendramodi has announced an exciting endeavour suitable to the capabilities of such a heavy rocket: India's first human space flight by 2022! 🚀

The future looks exciting!
And that's a wrap. This tweet storm was brought to you by our in-house science writer @uncertainquark. See you guys next week.
