Let's start our #GEMChats this week. The topic of this week is #student #entrepreneurship!

We'll discuss these three factors in the poll options below as well as replies to the poll 🧐🧐🧐 Let's take this forward!
#Students? And #entrepreneurship? Is that even a good combination?

Especially when you read that the famous student entrepreneurs like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg are all dropouts!!!

Can students not only run a #business while studying but also be #successful at it?
Taking a different perspective at this is that while these billionaires are college dropouts, the #idea for the #business all came about when they were in #college! As a young #student, your ideas have a chance at being fresh and can be developed through stringent planning!
But 33% of the poll answered that there are no support/aid out there for #students to start a #business.

Here are some of the numerous grants/opportunities a #Malaysian student can look into:

That's right. There are at least 31 options out there!
Another 17% of the poll responded that it is too difficult to manage a business.

When we think of business, sometimes we envision big shops with hundreds of customers a day! But the truth is, any exchange of goods and services for #money is already the basic of a #business.
The majority of the poll respondents (50%) says students don't see #entrepreneurship as a #career path because of unstable income.

With sufficient business planning, good #management of cash flow as well as smart business #strategy, a basic threshold of profit is not impossible.
Now let's address some of the reply responses to the poll!

@SyarilMirza attributes it to asian parenting that makes students give a hard pass to being #entrepreneurs as an actual career.
Asian parenting and culture puts emphasis on conventional career paths for their children.

It causes youths to be fearful of venturing into #startups and #business. However, with the #uncertainty and #unemployment, it's time parents encourage #entrepreneurship in their children.
@ngaiyuen attributes this to unis & their role in fostering entrepreneurship. Betul ke @unimalaya?🤣

In some IPTs, entrepreneurship modules are a compulsory part of the syllabus. But perhaps more focus should be made to build #innovators within students!
The crux of this lies within the aspiring #entrepreneur themselves. A true entrepreneur would go above and beyond these challenges to seek #success!
