These red/purple state D candidates are going to keep coming up short bc the national party apparatus is too busy trying to accommodate wishy washy unreliable White voters to actually FIGHT voter suppression and give the Black base a shot at a level playing field. It’s surrender.
The unspoken truth of 2014, 2016, and 2018 is that the 2013 dismantling of the VRA has done magnitudes of damage to the Black/Latino/Native American vote and we aren’t doing anywhere near enough to fight back. Either we know it’s real and unjust or we keep pretending it’s kosher.
If Democrats aren’t willing to fight at the *margins*, voter suppression will ensure that hotly contested races like these in TX, GA and FL will continue to remain in the R column. They suppress far more votes than their “winning” margins. Routinely.

We can pretend this shit is free and fair all we want to but that doesn’t make it true. The Union is weak because it’s throwing people of color to the wolves of the White majority in the “former” Confederacy and the states’ right of Jim Crow voter suppression is alive and well.
They may not have us bound by chains but they’ve shackled our votes with impunity from the SCOTUS and it’s a mounting constitutional crisis apart from everything else Trump’s brought to the table thus far. It’s a centuries old battle that still hasn’t been won yet.
Stop shouting the word gerrymandering out of your mouth if you aren’t willing to address the racism, White flight and segregation that breathe life into it. It’s the *same* fucking Jim Crow as roll purges, polling place scarcity, long ass lines, rigged machines and voter ID.
The fact remains that a majority of White Americans are still systematically voting for an apartheid government that disenfranchises non-White people by default, and I refuse to participate in false hope that they will cease and desist any time soon (if ever).
The fact remains that our local, state and federal courts are still stacked w/racist fucks who will continue to uphold White supremacy when it ends up on the docket, and they’re entrenched in the system just as they were when Black folk were 3/5s of a person. The sin isn’t dead.
Do NOT fix your mouth to talk about 2020 if you don’t have a plan for an all out apeshit ATTACK on GOP voter suppression in 2019. GTFOH because I simply can’t take you seriously and don’t have time for learned helplessness.

You can best fucking believe that the day after Election Day 2008, the GOP hatched a monstrously successful plan to dismantle the multicultural voting coalition Obama built/expanded in 2012, and they continue to reap the benefits of dismantling the Voting Rights Act in 2013.
