The 2016 presidential vote and 2018 midterm elections solidifies, for me, that the black vote will always remain consistently progressive/do the right thing. We never miss a beat. Folks have already said this, but the left needs to start focusing exclusively on voter reform.
No one really needs to lecture blacks folks on the importance of voting. They just need to make it easier, more accessible for us, and eliminate prisoners losing their vote. Their lectures need to be aimed towards white women and Latinos, collectively.
It might be impossible, but white women need to be convinced equality is more beneficial to them than white supremacy (which is a hard sell) and non-white Latinos need to be paid more attention to (white Latinos are going to consistently be a lost cause).
And to be completely honest, until voter registration is automatic and voting isn’t an absolute nightmare, young voters are going to not show up. Not because they don’t care (completely) but we make it so damn inaccessible for them, especially in non-Republican areas.
But of everything I’m thinking about, I’m sitting here wondering if we just need to alltogther abandon appealing to white women because if Tr*mp isn’t vile enough to make them step away from white supremacist voting tickets as a majority, will anything?
Even if you were able to get a 100% voting block from both black men and women (even with us always being the most consistently progressive voting blocs), it doesn’t matter if you can’t pull in more of the Latino vote + sway white women always from voting majority Repub.
We need more young voters, we need to reach out to indigenous & non-white Latinos, stop voter suppression against black folks, and give all felons back their vote.

The lecturing needs to be for white women, I really don’t wanna see another liberal shaming black folks to vote.
Black folks who vote, always vote collectively for progress. If you are not freeing us from voter suppression, voter intimidation, and/or giving back incarcerated folks their rights, don’t lecture us.

We are not the problem.
Also, I know intra-community we like to talk about those small margins of black folks who will vote Republican/Conservative (anywhere from 4%-16%) and honestly, you're always going to have that tiny percentage of black folks who uplift/propagate white supremacy.
It's bad, but at the same time, I don't think harping on the black voting blocs that consistently and by an overwhelmingly majority, always vote Dem/progressive/left in the 84%-95% range, helps. Until other voting blocs are as consistent as black folks, spare me.
Those are my thoughts about #Election2018 for now. Biggest takeaway is stop lecturing black folks, just make it easier for us to vote. Redirect your lectures & proclamations to the "allies" that consistently negate black folk's overwhelming consistency for voting progressive.
Also, we should be really proud of what Beto, Stacey Abrams (glad she's not conceding, too), and Andrew Gillum did in overwhelmingly red leaning states. Despite voter suppression, voter intimidation, and blatant racism they are making it clear Southern states are not lost causes.
