Here’s some more historical context for Democrats' great night on Tuesday: 1/

Democrats flipped 7 governorships. It’s been 25 years since the last time that either party flipped 7 governorships… that hasn’t happened since 1994. 2/

Democrats won every statewide race in Colorado. That hasn’t happened since 1948. And combined with flipping the Colorado State Senate, Democrats seized control of all statewide offices and both chambers for the first time since 1936. 3/

Democrats seized control of the New York State Senate for only the third time in 50 years. 4/

In Congressional races, women voted for Democrats over Republicans by more than 19 points. The last comparably high margin was in 1982. 5/

Democrats flipped 31 GOP-held seats and counting in the House. That’s already more seats than Democrats won in our last wave year, which was 2006. Pretty crazy, considering the districts have been hyper-gerrymandered by Republicans to be much harder for Democrats to win. 6/

In Michigan, Democrats ran women candidates for every statewide office on the ballot, and Democratic women won all of them. That’s never happened. 7/7
