Short thread on how I got involved in #Activism - I have been an activist since I was 17 (1989) - I campaigned with EarthWatch Ireland about, 'The Greenhouse Effect' (now #ClimateChange) raw sewage / river pollution and recycling.

In 1994, I moved to London for work and joined @GreenpeaceUK as a volunteer working on #StopEsso campaign and #SaveorDelete an Ancient Forests campaign. In 2002, #Banksy worked with us to create a poster and I was in charge of sending them around the UK along with this stencil

Came back to Ireland in 2004. Got involved with @GayTheatre Festival, @DublinPride, @lgbtNOISE and formed #LGBT direct action group called Equals with @Lisadonegal for #MarRef

Since then I've been using Art and Activism together to highlight and protest various issues like #homelessness with @ICHHDUBLIN - Syria War with @GOALIreland - #FreeSafeLegal - with @freesafelegal & @AmnestyIreland

in 2015, post #MarRef - I was absolutely stunned to learn that newly reported #HIV diagnoses in Ireland were at historic rates. One new case every 18hrs. I looked around for people to work with and found Adam Shanley

Finally, In July of 2016, @ActUpDublin was formed and I jumped right in. #ACTUPDubln members are a passionate, dedicated group of diverse people that educate, demonstrate and will not been silent about Ireland's #HIV crisis. They also know how to have good time!
