At the time, Nigerian churches were abysmally bad at #socialmedia and youth related issues. They didn't quite know how to confront or address rapid adoption of technology and social challenges like porn addiction. #RCCGLoveInAction

I'm glad to say that in the 2 years since @AlderConsulting's #StateOfChurch report, Nigerian churches have risen to the occasion. Some churches have mastered media. Some employ professional therapists to help young people to tackle addictions. #RCCGLoveInAction

Today, the present challenge surrounding the Nigerian church interestingly, is centred on money. It's no wonder really. #RCCGLoveInAction

Globally, #Nigeria has the largest number of desperately poor people and out-of-school kids, as well as a shocking child mortally rate. #RCCGLoveInAction

Because the very foundation of the church is built on love and giving, people give a LOT to churches. The Christian seed principle means people sow in faith when they don't have much. Churches have thus become huge repositories with central control structures. #RCCGLoveInAction

Having travelled in Asia, I understand citizens in similarly poor circumstances give of what little they have, to their gods and temples. So, the issue is not giving per se, but how the funds are dispensed for the good of humanity. #RCCGLoveInAction

Churches must spend more on people and less on administration. They must also institute good governance, as power corrupts. #RCCGLoveInAction

In Nigeria, there is huge distrust of Pastors, especially by non adherents. The #StateofChurch Report makes this clear. #RCCGLoveInAction

Yet, many also admit that the church does a lot to help the poor & disadvantaged. And, they say the church should focus on helping the less privileged. #RCCGLoveInAction
