In case anyone is wondering what to get @RosianneCutajar for Christmas, I’d recommend (a) a couple of solid dictionaries, (b) a treatise (preferably in very simple & plain language) on the role of dictionaries & (c) a reality check as a stocking filler. 1/
Here’s @RosianneCutajar. Rosianne is a tool (not a particularly sharp one) in Muscat’s toolkit that he whips out for comic relief / sympathy / distraction.

An insidious circus sideshow. This is her latest advertorial “opinion piece” in the ever obliging MaltaToday 2/
Rosianne has a past which she is somewhat ashamed of. Which is fine, we all did stupid stuff 3/
Except Rosianne evidently has other deep-seated issues 4/
And paradoxically a sense of entitlement (now it’s “our” turn) to boot: daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2013/12/ill-br…

5/
She also was recruited by @GlenBedingfield to work with @ONE_news_Malta which given that it is @PL_Malta’s main propaganda outlet meant she trained & worked as a propagandist. 6/
Here’s @RosianneCutajar on TV in 2012 talking about electricity bills which was one of @PL_Malta’s rallying cries to get elected & eventually give away Malta’s power supply to #Azerbaijan, #China & #17Black for a pittance. 7/

The dumb crap that she did when she was young(er) was sign up to a couple of Italian websites and offer herself for “hostess” services in Catania, Sicily (it’s a ferry ride away from #Malta) under the flirtatious nickname “Nuxellina”.
8/
It so happened that not long after opening those profiles, she ran & was elected as @PL_Malta mayor for Qormi. Now famous for its “banana fest” (don’t ask). 9/
As actual journalists do, #DaphneCaruanaGalizia looked up this person being pushed so heavily and lo and behold her online profiles stood out with suggestive profile pic & all: daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2012/03/nuxell… 10/
It’s worthwhile noting that #DaphneCaruanaGalizia gave her the benefit of the doubt: 11/
Which is perhaps more than most would: 12/
A quick check on an Italian dictionary for the meaning of “hostess” in Italian gives a few meanings: dizionario-italiano.it/dizionario-ita… 13/
Which addresses @rosiannecutajar’s point here: 14/
We can rule out “air hostess” simply because her profile & picture do not seem very airline friendly (plus it’s a job not something you’d be “disponibile” for in the Sicily region) - unless that’s an in-flight safety demonstration with a water heater backdrop. 15/
In case you’re wondering what a “hostess” is generally known as in Italian, there’s a website here conveniently called “hostess wing” with tips on being a hostess (accompagnatrice): hostesswing.com/accompagnatric… 16/
Essentially an escort in both English and Italian.

dizionario-italiano.it/dizionario-ita…

17/
But @RosianneCutajar seems to be lost in definitions begging the question as to whether she knew what she actually signed up for... or maybe not (given she’s an ex-junior school teacher of Italian) 18/
The profiles / microsites were swiftly taken down upon discovery but the internet is a funny thing where pages don’t really disappear when archived. That’s one for another day. 19/
Let’s give Rosianne the benefit of the doubt too. Post-Berlusconi Italy meant that previously unemployed girls & women could find work as “It girls”, “promoters” (the scantily dressed women you’ll find at events handing out freebies) or “vallette” (bimbos on TV shows): 20/
You can find out more here about the objectification of women & the resulting “jobs” here:

21/
Judging by her demeanour online & socially she’d be well suited. 22/
Rosianne seems to have waited for a particular episode to come out of her shell to address “misconceptions” about her, likely because someone is no longer around to put her straight. 23/
Or (more likely) feels she ought to take on a role as what you’d call an agent provocateur. Act like an absolute imbecile then if / when called out, claim that you’re being unfairly targeted, ideally with exactly the same stuff you’ve been doing. But that chip keeps showing. 24/
Past examples include being rowdy in Parliament and then when people call it out in frustration, claiming you're being unfairly targeted as a woman: independent.com.mt/articles/2017-… 25/
And here is where the chip comes in, any reference to the word "qahba" (whore) suddenly becomes about her and her past 26/
Such as a Maltese expression (not the politest) "il-qahba milli jkollha ttik" (literally the whore can only give you what she has on offer but idiomatically akin to putting lipstick on a pig) said on social media about her inanities becomes calling her a "whore" 27/
And most recently a similar episode involving another idiomatic expression with the same word (qahba f' xalata) again said on social media about her inanities becomes calling her a "whore" 29/
Which can be swiftly put to bed (and was) with a dictionary. 30/
Attention seeking. Nothing more & deserves to be ignored. 31/
The insidious part relates to other aspects such as accusing others of doing exactly the things that have been done by @PL_Malta for 30 odd years to #DaphneCaruanaGalizia. 32/
Some excerpts from her latest article:

This equates the above with this: theshiftnews.com/2018/04/13/imp…

33/
This is just funny because it shows that a simple dictionary called her out & she felt she had to address it 34/
The rest is exactly a case of “wolf cries wolf” accusing others of doing that which you do, which whilst vaguely amusing is also a Russian propaganda tactic: 35/
All in all a person best ignored. Here’s a video of her in her element: 36/
