Here is an actual clause of the #USConstitution:

“...no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

Suppose that Article VI had a further Clause, Clause 4, that stated, “no racial identity shall ever be the basis for a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”

Now, such a clause would prohibit the President from granting or withholding an office based on racial identity, and, in like vein, would prohibit the Senate from withholding consent to a nomination, or granting it, on the basis of racial identity.

Easy enough to understand, right?

But suppose what happens is that a candidate is nominated, and then a Senate committee hearing is held. During the hearing, Senator Ditzie Idunno of Hawaii, asks the nominee, “please tell us about your racial background and identity.”

Right away, you’d see the problem. You’d know that Ditzie had strayed into forbidden territory, into territory expressly prohibited to her.

Of course, the actual clause is the one I’ve quoted above. That Clause prohibits a religious test for office.

This last week, we have learned that the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a questionnaire to a nominee, #BrianBuescher, of #Omaha #Nebraska. @realdonaldtrump has nominated #Buescher to serve as a federal district court judge in Nebraska.

And it is in the context of that questionnaire that I come to the “no religious test” clause of the Constitution.

Take a look at the questionnaire … you can see for yourself that @maziehirono, @KamalaHarris, and @CoryBooker each attack the religious affiliations and beliefs of nominee #Buescher.

These @DNC #Senators raised the subject of #Buescher’s membership in the #KnightsofColumbus. The #Knights is a #Catholic #socialservice and #fraternalorganization. Among their charitable works, the Knights serve the poor and those with disabilities.

And, as Catholics, of course, the #Knights honor the teaching of their Church on abortion and on the nature of marriage.

In the America of the @DNC, only those that kiss the ring of @PPFA can be trusted to hold office; those that disagree with decisions of #SCOTUS as a matter of personal faith are disqualified relentlessly.

But that disqualification is, itself, directly unconstitutional, directly a violation of the prohibition of a religious test for office.
