Did I Really Go To the Hill with @runningstart to Meet the New Women Members If I Don’t Post About It?: A Thread. #116thCongress #ILookLikeAPolitician
First stop: the office of @RepHaleyStevens of Michigan, who’s presiding over the House as I type! @SusannahWDC, @JessicaNGrounds, and our new intern Chloe loved getting to meet her awesome staff!

Warning: I was the designated selfie arm, so be prepared for tons of awk selfies 😂
Next: the youngest woman elected to Congress at 29-years old, the office of @RepAOC of New York (shoutout to the Bronx, where I used to work at @WomanHOOD_Bronx! 💜). She’s so impressive, and I admire her authenticity #116thCongress
@HurdOnTheHill was our next stop! Not a woman or a newbie, but he’s always been a great friend and supporter of @runningstart and our mission to bring more women to politics, which we love. 🧡
I told you all this would be full of selfies (#ussies).

We also visited @RepStefanik of New York, who also isn’t brand new, but is another one of the youngest women in Congress. It’s so important to see young women in high positions of leadership #ILookLikeAPolitician.
Okay, let’s mix it up a little with even more @runningstart faces.

While visiting the office of Michigan’s @ElissaSlotkin, we also ran into @runningstart alums Megan (interned with me!) & Isabel. Mela, the congresswoman’s chief of staff attended Next Step (a past RS program).
Okay y’all, brace yourselves.

We got to meet @RepDavids from Kansas, who’s incredible to me because:

1. She’s one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress.

2. She’s the first openly gay Kansan elected to Congress.

3. She’s a former mixed martial artist!
I’ve been tweeting for an hour (not healthy, very against my New Years resolution to be less attached to my phone) so I’m going to finish this thread tomorrow. Follow me if you don’t already and be on the lookout for more cool pics. G’night! 😴
I’m back! And with a pic of the @runningstart crew with @HornForCongress from yesterday! She’s the first Democratic woman ever elected to Congress from Oklahoma. Thanks for having us!
We also visited @KatieHill4CA’s office yesterday, another new woman elected to the House for California’s 25th congressional district. She’s posing with @runningstart’s signature orange notebook (soft, leather, very popular).
My #BlackGirlMagic moment: visiting the offices of @AyannaPressley, Massachusetts’s first black woman elected to Congress, and @LaurenUnderwood, the youngest black woman ever sworn into the house (32 y/o). I admire both of them so much for being trailblazers and role models 💜
We also visited the office of @RepHoulahan of Pennsylvania. She had never run for office before running to become congresswoman, and she won! Truly shows that you should never be afraid to dream big.
Last stop: the office of @cathymcmorris of Washington, who isn’t a new member, but she’s supported @runningstart in the past in hosting our congressional fellows as interns in her office.
I obviously really enjoyed getting to visit the offices of the new women members. I’m so happy to see them changing the face of leadership in Congress and coming in with a bang, making politics feel more accessible and representative #116Congress.
