Q for #NGINX experts: I'm running a reverse proxy (EOTK/Tor) and want to trap when upstream is sending me: "Content-Encoding: gzip" and return (probably) 406, because reasons.

I think I need ngx_http_upstream_module and $upstream_http_content_encoding.

Am I missing anything?
Reason being: I *always* set "Accept-Encoding: identity", the upstream should _never_ send me gzip/etc, but sometimes it does because CDNs and Vary headers are flaky.

Not to put too fine a point on it, different platforms — Apple, Facebook, Google, Twitter — all have pros & cons when it comes to privacy. There are no absolutes, no magic bullets, no white knights.
