Muslim women's bodies - from head to toe - are the site of battle between right wing racist shits & clueless left wing cultural relativist shits. And where are we?

From hijabs to FGM - the headscarves & hymens of my book title - everything has become about right vs left wing & not about us Muslim women.

For decades and more now: right wing shits who don't give a flying fuck about us Muslim women use hijabs/FGM as racism/Islamophobia entry point.

And left wing cultural relativist shits, ostensibly to "fight" racism/Islamophobia are silent or worse support misogynists and conservatives

And where are our voices, Muslim women? Right and left wing barely see us, they're obsessed with each other. Thank goodness for our activists. Women like @LeylaHussein -Somali-British Muslim activist vs FGM; @Deeyah_Khan - Pakistani-Norwegian filmmaker & founder @sister_hood_mag

And so many more women who are fighting vs harmful practices like FGM, telling both racist shits and cultural relativists to fuck off. It's almost impossible to speak as Muslim woman w/out some racist shit using our words vs Muslims or cultural relativist telling us to shut up.

It's FUCKING EXHAUSTING - by the time I've told right wing to fuck off, cultural relativists to fuck off, my own misogynists to fuck off... I define both racists/Islamophobes & misogynists in the "community" as right wing.They too are obsessed w/each other at expense of our girls

I'm fighting for a world where the rights of girls & women are prioritized & never sacrificed - not for "community" or "honour" or "nation" I'm fighting for a world where my body belongs to me - not to the state/mosque/temple/church/family.

And in that world, every girl's body is respected & not considered a proxy battlefield between right wing (racists & misogynists) vs left.

Our priority must always be girls. Racists & Islamophobes seize on #FGM. Fuck them! Some on the left are silent on FGM. Fuck them. Girls’ safety first! Always. #EndFGM
