Today is #WomenInScience Day, so please allow me to introduce you to some of the #WomenInSTEM who have made an impact in my career.
I hope you'll give them a follow so you can keep up with them every day of the year
Let me start with sharks.
@BiminiSharkGirl is the founder of @Sharks4Kids and educates students all across the globe on the importance of protecting sharks.

It's hard keeping up with @leahmeth
We first worked together in 2012(!) to create @TheSharkStanley, the little character who helped protect sharks at #CITES2013
We later retooled him to create shark sanctuaries.
Another grad student I worked with was @sharksrcool08. Katie researched perceptions of sharks in several caribbean islands to earn her masters from @UniOfYork. Now she works for @katie_at_sea over at @oceana, just across town.
I've worked with @smash2277 for almost four years on the @pewenvironment @DonaBertarelli Ocean Legacy project. She's our team's Senior Manager and is basically in charge of everything.
Everyone in ocean conservation knows @charlottevick
I'm one of the many people she's helped to connect with other leaders in this field. If not for her, I probably never would have come to Washington, DC.

My counterpart on @pewenvironment @Bertarelli_fdn Ocean Legacy's science team is @baez_stacy. Dr. B worked with @DrAndrewThaler last year to create the largest fleet of robot drones in the entire world. Look it up!!
Back to sharks.
I worked with @LizKaran for almost 5 years to create shark sanctuaries, ban shark fins, and even protect sharks at #CITES. Today she leads @pewenvironment's efforts to protect the high seas.

I mentioned her above, but @katie_at_sea put together a suite of @pewenvironment funded shark science projects that would help inform domestic management of sharks, mostly in the Caribbean

One of those projects was the groundbreaking work of @judithbakker2, aka the shark poop scientist, who pioneered science to find shark environmental DNA in the Caribbeean

The great defender of the Mariana Trench, Papahanaumokuakea, Pacific Remote Islands, and Rose Atoll Marine National Monument is @julesgoss. She's successfully defended our marine monuments for two years from the current White House occupant

This list is getting kind of long, so I'm just going to tag more amazing women.
Please give them a follow!

And finally, follow @AOC because she's going to save us all.
I've got a few more.
@emilyk516 worked for six years to help protect the waters surrounding the iconic Easter Island

She's not on Twitter, but Guam Senator Carlotta Leon Guerrero is the reason I work for Pew (it's a long story)

Also not on Twitter, but incredibly influential in my career is Northern Marianas Representative Cinta Kaipat
