#Homeless figures released by Dept for Jan show 9,987 people as officially homeless. This is a drop in the ocean compared to the true number of people impacted by #homelessness.

#HousingCrisis impacts everyone from students, Travellers, workers, families, migrants & children.

It's outrageous that Owen Keegan @DubCityCouncil claimed that homelessness is appealing to some people. His remarks are very offensive. Homeless services are in turmoil. Mr Keegan should be focused on building homes rather than punching down on victims of the housing emergency.

Today @MurphyEoghan said Jan #homeless figures were 'very disappointing' & that 'we remain in a very difficult situation where homelessness is heavily impacting on the lives of families and individuals.' Homelessness & #housingcrisis has been impacting families for last 7 years!

Between Q3 2011 & Q3 2018 average rent in Dublin increased by €606 ( 60%) per month to €1620 (@RTBinfo). Continued over-reliance on private rental market by Gov has allowed landlords to maximise profits using loopholes to evict tenants then relisting at much higher rent.

According to daft.ie average rental price being asked for in Dublin has increased €870 (or 82%) per month in last 7 years to an incredible €1,928! The majority of people’s monthly wage is going on rents leaving many struggling below the poverty line. #March9th

As #vulturefunds buy up properties all over Ireland, we've seen house prices in Dublin increase to average of €446,215 up 13% from 2016. These prices make it impossible for many people to buy their first home which adds to the pressure on the private rental market. #March9th

Unless this Gov starts a #publichousing plan to build public housing on the zoned land owned by local authorities and #NAMA, our #homelessness figures will continue to rise. This includes using UNSPENT allocated #TravellerHousing budgets! #March9th #HomesforAll #Right2Housing
