If you were a journo or opinion editor trying to get better at reporting on #climate & #energy, what questions would you be asking?

Thread

/ If the article/writer claims a certain cost of acting on climate, does it also make claims about the cost of not acting on climate?
/ If there are claims made about industry moving off shore, where will the industry go (since the majority of the world is acting on climate)?
/ If there are claims made about industries dying (or becoming less competitive) and what new industries will be created by acting on climate?
/ If there are claims that renewable and storage are more expensive, what is the alternative future scenario and what will the cost be (you can't assume existing coal power stations will keep running forever - they won't)?
/ Does the author just focus on one technology as the saviour e.g. batteries or pumped hydro? What about all the other clean energy techs/strategies - demand response, energy efficiency, CST, bioenergy, diversified renewable resources in different locations etc?
/ Does the author refer to the most up to date costs and assumptions credible sources include @BloombergNEF and the recent study by @CSIROnews & @AEMO_Media? csiro.au/en/News/News-r…
/ Does the author assume "the market" will magically fix things with its "invisible hand"?
/ Does the author assume that coal power plants run 100% of the time or that there were no blackouts in the past? #Fantasy
