1. Marxism/Communism/socialism is not an American invention. It's a European invention specifically a German invention.

2. It was a product of European history/culture and invented to deal with the social upheavals. Specifically, the upheavals the ending of feudalism and the beginning of the industrial revolution brought to those left out or unable to cope with the change.

3. The USA didn't need Marxism, since it's US Constitution and Declaration of Independence already dealt with most of those issues.

4. As Coolidge stated the concept of all man are created equal is final. If their rights are giving by God that's final. If governments derive their power from the people that's final. You can't progress more from those points.

5. However, in Europe that wasn't the case and in many nations it's still not the case. They had a rich history of thousands of years of social strata, of class systems & being ruled by their "betters", of revolutions to change the status of those left out of the current Regimes.

6. The industrial revolution brought massive social change to the world. Because of the concepts on which the USA was founded those changes were easier to handle. A man's worth wasn't tied to his linage or his wallet. It was tied to his work effort & his character in large degree

7. In America, a civil war was fought to uphold these beliefs for all. Slavery was outlawed and cast into the ash heap of history at the same time communism was gaining a foothold in Europe. Unlike Europe's revolutions and rebellions the end resultof this civil war wasn't to....

8. ...replace one class with another. It wasn't to replace one race with another. It was to make all live under the ideals that the nation was founded on. There are many reasons for the civil war and this thread isn't about to open that can of worms.

9. However, one could see it as a clash of civilizations between a European class system on one hand and a newly fashioned civilization based on ideals never seen in the history of humanity on the other.

10. Europe never had this clash of civilizations. Sure they had the revolts and the revolutions. They had the Magna Carta and other advancements but they never went as far as the US Constitution. Partly because of it's ingrained long history. The US didn't have that problem.

11. They were basically starting with a blank canvas. When parts of the nation came into conflict with that new painting and neither side could live with the other and survive their way of life, a war was fought and the issue was decided. No need for Marxism/communism.

12. The breaking up of monopolies with anti trust laws, the growth of the middle class as a result and the ability to speak out against & change the government regularly further weakened the need for a communism revolution.

13. The ability of the US government to respond quickly to the needs of the people with programs like social security and labor laws during depression periods held off the need to reinvent the wheel and succumb to Marxism.

14. The constant changing of the guards with rags to riches and riches to rags stories kept the elite fresh enough that new ideas and thoughts were allowed loose in the Chambers of Power instead of shunned as they were in Europe.

15. None of this is suggest that the USA is perfect, just that due to it's system of government there isn't a need for Marxism here. Of course, there will always be those that are left behind in society. The poor, the disabled, those born on the wrong side of the tracks, etc but

16. ...here in America those people have a chance to make their own name. The American dream is still here. Yes, due to government dictates and the increasingly lack of freedoms over the last 40 years; it's harder. The more control and ossified the government gets the more......

17. .....those left behind will agitate for change and the more risk of a complete revolution. This might be why the socialists have switched from talking about macro-agressions that have been solved to a large degree to micro-agressions that can never be solved.

18. Still, it would be prudent to again enforce anti-trust laws, break up too big to fail companies, cut freedom stealing regulations and laws, change our trading system to increase competition, relax tax levels and promote and live up to the core principles of our founding.

19. If we allow the installation of a never changing elite,we can expect the same reactions, revolutions and rebellions that we have seen in Europe and other areas over the course of history.
