THREAD
Albertans have some decisions to make regarding what direction they want our province to go. I am hearing a lot about track records and taxes on all sides of the fence so I wanted to throw my 2 cents out into the internet universe. #ableg #abpoli #abvote 1/
Society pays taxes for a reason. Those dollars collected are designed to go to needed infrastructure, repair & maintenance as well as programs that save us money in the long run and make our society a better place to live. It's literally the governments JOB to spend those $$ 2/
Both sides have a track record. Albertans need to decide which track record they like and which track record they want to see for Alberta's future. I have chosen my view and my side and I would like to tell you why I think we are #BetterOffWithRachel 3/
Conservatives have a track record of not using our tax dollars for what we need instead they use it for huge expense accounts, & giving friends jobs with bloated salaries. The @abndpcaucus slashed those jobs and salaries cutting 16 million in waste. 3/ globalnews.ca/news/3271471/n…
The Cons always talk about efficiencies that they will find to get elected then never look for them once in power. Instead they slash & burn the front line & appoint friends to boards like the so called war room that @jkenney is promising. How much is that going to cost? 4/
The ABNDP on the other hand found efficiencies and made the "right" cuts. Cuts that were in favor of Albertans. They are putting our tax dollars to what we need. Things like the Calgary caner center that the Conservatives put off for decades, @RachelNotley is building it. 5/
The much needed seniors housing and the affordable housing that we desperately require. The conservatives put it off for decades, @RachelNotley is building them. 6/

The maintenance, repairs, modernization, rebuilds and new build of Alberta schools that the conservatives put off for decades to the detriment of our system and our childrens education, health and wellbeing, @RachelNotley is building them. 7/ projects.alberta.ca
The expansions and modernization of public transit and LRT that were put off by the conservatives for decades to the point that the public transit system was failing the need of the customers, @RachelNotley is building them. 8/ globalnews.ca/news/5043208/f…
The hospital maintenance, repairs, renos and rebuilds that the conservative put off for decades drastically declining the quality of our healthcare and creating horrible wait times, @RachelNotley is building them. 8/

Hospital projects like the #RedDeer hospital that would likely lose its funding under a tax cut regime such as the one the #UCP is proposing. 9/

Highway maintenance & expansions that were put off by the conservatives for decades putting Albertans safety at risk, @RachelNotley is building them. Projects such as the #FortSask highway 15 project that likely would lose its funding under #UCP. 10/ alberta.ca/highway-15-twi…
The diversification that will give us the longevity in Alberta prosperity. The conservatives talked about it for decades while sitting on their hands. @RachelNotley is making it happen. This latest down turn did not have to hurt so much! 11/ alberta.ca/diversifying-e…
Instead of sitting on their hands like the conservatives have done for decades @RachelNotley and the @abndpcaucus have created the made in Alberta plan which will bring us into the economy we need for the future. 12/ alberta.ca/made-in-albert…
@RachelNotley has also made great strides in growing the tech sector, the craft beer sector, the renewable sector and more! Alberta can no long rely on one sector to keep our province afloat and then do a crash and burn into a recession every few years when the price dives. 13/
When it comes to services @RachelNotley has taken a cost saving approach. If implementing the program will improve society and save us money in the long run it gets added. If it doesn't it comes off and goes to the private sector. 14/
The indigenous communities on water boil advisories some for decades were ignored by the conservatives. Conservatives on BOTH levels of government ignored the issue and refused to take action. @RachelNotley is taking that action. 15/ edmontonjournal.com/news/local-new…
Mental health was affecting many areas of our society. The conservatives put it off till it had become a crisis. Cons put it off until it had trickled over into increased drug use causing an opiod crisis and a meth crisis which then trickled over into a crime crisis. 16/
@RachelNotley has made huge strides in addressing all 3 of those crisis. A restructure and increased funding for the RCMP, mental review, clinics including 24 hr service & addiction response, resources and safe consumption sites. 17/ alberta.ca/addiction-ment…
When tragedy struck @RachelNotley was quick to act. tragedy like the Humbolt Bus crash where the @abndpcaucus quickly changed policy to bring driver training back under government control so preventable accidents like this do not happen again. 18/ alberta.ca/licensed-drive…
When the tragedy of the Calgary flood happened @RachelNotley created a plan to ensure the safety of #yyc and Calgarians. A plan that is likely to lose its funding under a #UCP government as @jkenney says he is not committed to the project. 19/ alberta.ca/springbank-off…
When Alberta lost its greyhound bus routes @RachelNotley was quick to act to ensure Albertans had their needs met. 20/

@RachelNotley brought in programs that make sense like affordable child care. When women can work that is good for their self esteem and self worth AKA mental health. When women can work they pay taxes and those taxes can be flipped back into paying for the program. 21/
When women work they have $$ to spend at local businesses which improves our economy. When women work they make CPP contributions & can save for their retirement. When women save for retirement they will be better prepared & less reliant on the system saving us $$ later 22/
After all why would we want to set up a whole demographic consisting of half of our society to be completely dependent on the government systems in retirement? This policy will pay for its self in the long run and that is good governance. 23/
@RachelNotley went out of her way to make sure children were looked after. She worked on schools, education, school fees, school nutrition programs, child care, child tax credit, raised minimum wage. After being stagnate for 30 years @RachelNotley cut child poverty in HALF 24/
All of this and so SO much more has shown me @RachelNotley track record is going to be one that is good for the people, good for the workers, good for the province and worthy of the job Premier of Alberta. We are so much #BetterOffWithRachel #ableg #abpoli #abvote #shpk #yeg #yyc
